None of that changes what's happening on the ice and to say they've been "very strong defensively" is flat out wrong.

D zone coverage has been responsible for most of the goals I've seen that have happened at even strength.

And a player trying to skate it in on the pp when the Russians are lining up at the bl along with that horrible angle shot on the pp that ends up out of the zone illustrates my point about individual play.

The Canadians weren't strong defensively? That's laughable. They held the US to the outside a majority of the game. A part from a few break-down, the Russians have been very strong defensively, especially on the PK. This US power play came into these two games with a. 70% PP percentage. Into this game with a 50% PP percentage. The Canadians and Russians absolutely shut that down.

Gilles had to be our best player to stand a chance at gold in this tourney. He's been average. Far too much sloppy handling of the puck and poor rebound control.

Open your eyes man.

Oh well, sometimes tourney teams just don't gel the way you hope.

Just ask Canada...

Re: World Juniors Thread (Including Roster, Stats, Standings and Schedule)

Russia with a ENG on a turnover at the blueline. Game Over. Russia 5, USA 3

Re: World Juniors Thread (Including Roster, Stats, Standings and Schedule)

well this was pretty disappointing. are gurt and dubbs arguing the merits of lucia's defensive philosophy? ;)

Re: World Juniors Thread (Including Roster, Stats, Standings and Schedule)

are we now in a 5th place game or something? if so, get demko in there if you think he is the guy next year.

Re: World Juniors Thread (Including Roster, Stats, Standings and Schedule)

WHO SAID THEY WERE??

I said the Russians and Canadians played strong defensively.

Learn to read, clown ;)

The US's weak defensive play the past two games starts and endsw ith Gilles. He'd be the first to tell you that.

I said the us was weak in their zone leading to most of the even strength goals that we gave up to which you replied that "No, the Russians and Canadians were quite strong in their zone."

Clown.

Keep telling me I need to learn to read and keep arguing against points I didn't make.

Clown.

Clearly the result of poor coaching.

There, I said it.

Re: World Juniors Thread (Including Roster, Stats, Standings and Schedule)

This years Team USA simply took way to many penalties to win a medal. Disappointing result, but they deserved it.

No Gurt, my response about Canada and Russia playing strong defensively was in response to this comment of yours. Nothing in that post did you say anything about our defensive play.

Lots of individual offensive efforts that are stymied and many of the goals are ugly or fluky. Not playing particularly well as units.

Again, learn to read.
