USA and Canada both advance to the Semifinals with slightly more difficult than expected victories over Slovakia and Czech Republic respectively.

So our Semifinals tomorrow are:
Canada (1) v. Russia (4)
USA (2) v. Finland (3)
 
So all the referees are from Canada? I understand why logistically but that's still a bit... undesirable.

I didn't really have a problem with the US penalties. The delay of game penalties were pretty obvious, and were self-inflicted wounds. I thought the trips and the others were probably good calls.

My only real beef with the officiating was right before the second delay of game penalty a US forward was pretty much mugged entering the Finnish zone and the ref swallowed his whistle. That's not completely surprising in hockey, and we've all seen it before, but it became a pretty big non-call a minute later when the US went down a man for delay of game.
 
US wins it all, Canada has to settle for silver on their own turf, Russia goes home empty-handed...pretty much a perfect tournament. :-)

Pregame Zegras was interviewed saying: "I honestly don't think (Canada's) been tested with a real team yet and I think we're kind of going on all cylinders right now, I think we're gonna catch them by surprise and I think we'll go from there."

He's gonna get booed in every Canadian NHL arena (and he won't care).
