If Iceland wins tomorrow, Argentina will need an Icelandic loss to Croatia and win by at least four, possibly more depending on goals scored.

Urmatov is a good example of the benefit of from a small country as a referee. If he was from Europe he wouldn’t be anywhere near this World Cup.

What I'm saying is he will be the only one blamed...i.e. Why can't Messi bring Argentina the World Cup?

The tiny bit I know about Argentinian football is Messi is Mike Schmidt: they ride him mercilessly even though he has been nothing but great for them.

It's not like it's Messi and a collection of bums. Aguero, DiMaria, Dybala, Higuain...they have all been good to great at clubs not named Barcelona.

In regard to Messi -

I never thought it would be possible for me to feel so badly for someone so rich and successful.
But the guy's history with his national team reads like a Greek tragedy.

You should go to Liverpool and sit at a bar the players go to. It's not like he's the only one.

No...but good players doesn't always mean a good team.
These guys may just not play well together...sure hasn't looked like it for 2+ years.
