World Cup 2018: The best party money could buy (until 2022)!

Re: World Cup 2018: The best party money could buy (until 2022)!

Pure domination by Peru to start. They've done everything but put the ball in the net.

Why does fox hire such garbage announcers?

ESPN was incredible last to around.

Navarro is from ESPN. Not sure if he's done the WC before, but he's on Deportes.

They're also calling it from the studio, which can't be easy.

“If they called those fouls there would be five or six penalties a game”

That’s a terrible reason to not call fouls. These guys are clowns.

Then that’s still on Fox.

The PBP guy sounds like he’s trying to take a **** with a massive hemorrhoid.

Right, I meant more that they might not normally be this bad, but that calling from a studio may be throwing a wrench into things. Fox gave up on caring when the US lost in Trinidad.

Navarro's trying to put that classic Spanish commentating style into English, but the language doesn't flow enough so he's stringing out words. It also doesn't help he's clearly rooting for Peru.

VAR calls another penalty. Peru heads for the spot and Baggio's it!!!

Re: World Cup 2018: The best party money could buy (until 2022)!

If you sneeze on someone, VAR awards a penalty

That was a horrific attempt though...choked

And ya, would much rather hear Jon Champion, Derek Rae, Adrian Healey, etc. Not just this crew, not a huge fan of John Strong either. Oh well.

Agreed on all counts.

"GOOOAAAAALLLLL!!!!" followed by "Boom goes the dynamite"?

Re: World Cup 2018: The best party money could buy (until 2022)!

That’s a horrible, helpless feeling as a goalie.

Re: World Cup 2018: The best party money could buy (until 2022)!

IIRC calling a soccer game from the studio is nothing new.
