Women's DIII 2009-2010 Fan Opinion Poll

Re: Women's DIII 2009-2010 Fan Opinion Poll

1: Gustavus Adolphus
2: Amherst
3: Plattsburgh
4: RIT
5: UW - River Falls
6: Manhattanville
7: Neumann
8: Elmira
9: Middlebury
10: Norwich

Sorry Lake Forrest, I would put you on the list but I'm just not sure, and with the schedule you have I'm not sure if you really have anyone to prove yourself against. Beat River Falls and you'll probably make the top 10, assuming they do well throughout the season.

Looking forward to the Gustavus Adolphus and UW - River Falls game next week. Elmira and Utica could be interesting as well, I think it will be a good gauge of if the changes effected Elmira.

EDIT: Didn't realize Utica lost its first two games...for some reason I thought they won, in that case I'll add Norwich to the list.

The new polls are out.....I'm not really sure how Norwich gets a #8 spot when they didn't beat anyone of consequence and Lake Forest got 3 points off of the previous #10 UW-Superior. How is the voting decided?

Norwhich was at number 9 before..they didn't lose..Superior and St Thomas drop out..it makes sense that Norwich wouldmove up a spot and the two new comers will fill in below. I don't think UWSP is a top ten team...but who else is there--definitely not Superior--not St Thomas. Lake Forest doesn't have the name recognition yet...if they sweep superior..they might be in. Neumann definitely deserves it...UWSP/Lake Forest is 10. I'm really surprised St Thomas is still getting votes at 1-2-1 esp considering the tie to Eau Claire

The more interesting thing is that Elmira wins their game and GAC doesn't play and jumps over them...granted it was pretty close before and its only a 4 pt difference...

I think the key word here is "OPINION" which isn't even worth the "two cents" I am about to contribute, but in general collective knowledge has proven to be better actuarially than just one wild guess by one wild thing's fanaticism -- which is really what we are battling here -- how many fans want their team to be the best with no visible means of support for that opinion.

1) GAC
2) UWRF
3) Manhattanville
4) Elmira
5) UST
6) RIT
7) Neumann
8) UWSP
9) Norwich
10) someone else who has played already

Now that's what I am talking about!! Good stuff, not to be taken too seriously and how else are you going to get a team's name and recognition out there?? I am looking up 3-4 right now. I think this poll serves its purpose -- branding.

You can't be serious...

Re: Women's DIII 2009-2010 Fan Opinion Poll

You can't be serious...

Say What?
Would it help if I would have included “this year” after “work to date” in my explanation for my poll, or is it that you just don’t understand the English language or don’t want to spread a little LOVE. I could say the same thing about your poll:

1: Gustavus Adolphus – Do you really want to go there. Hasn’t played a game this year, plays in the worst conference with no competition (see STU results), loses or ties any real competition in the NCHA, and OH YEH – has this little problem of losing in the first round of the finals every year. Number 1, give me a break!!
2: Amherst – Hasn’t played a game, lost their goalie, plays a tough non-conference schedule. Number 2, I don’t think so.
3: Plattsburgh – Love that win over the Bantam Canuck team. Lost 5 of their top ten scorers from last year and their goalie. Number 3 at this time, could be wishful thinking by the end of the year.
4: RIT – A win and a loss against a historical mediocre team whose claim to fame this year is beating a team with four (that would be 0-4-0) losses. Impressive.
5: UW - River Falls – Finally a team we can agree upon, I just like them a little more.
6: Manhattanville – Another great choice. We are talking a powerhouse from a powerhouse leage…… NOT!! I believe you would call any team with 14 Freshman in a rebuilding mode. Number 6, give a break again and again!!
7: Neumann – See 4 above. Need I say more?
8: Elmira – Oh my, they beat Boofalo State. You happen to check their schedule. I might give them Number 8 by the end of the year, not now.
9: Middlebury – Again no games yet. Maybe after they beat up on CC and the Continental foot soldiers I will move them in.
10: Norwich – Gollieeeeee, we agree again except I like’m more than you.
You might say I am not serious, but I am serious about having a little fun with my “OPINION” poll submission. It is the beginning of the year for goodness sakes. 12 teams haven't even played yet. Have some fun. Spread the LOVE!!!!:) ;)

According to USCHO Holy Cross is not a DIII team and so I have not included them. They wouldn't have made the top 10 either way.

In the original postof the thread you said you would include votes cast for DII schools...but Holy Cross is technically DI correct?

Re: Women's DIII 2009-2010 Fan Opinion Poll

Sorry, but in my opinion, until a western team actually defeats an eastern team in ameaningful contest, they don't deserve to be in the top six.

In the past four years, the west has struggled against TOP RANKED eastern teams. East still rules DIII women's hockey. West is still the pretender. :)
