Re: Women's DI Rankings/Polls 2013-14

Along with the fact that the Ivy League teams haven't started yet and are thus mathematically eliminated from the PWR.

I know it's very early, but it's been a while (years) and I just wanted to see these two items in the same space!

Hopefully, the Badger women will play better after ascending to the #2 spot than the Badger men.

Harvard have gone up 30 points since the preseason poll without playing a game!

The power of others beating each other up. Some refer to it as the WCHA disease. :D

Compared to many others I can think of it's not a bad one to have. It's never fatal, and quite often those who contract it have been known to get noticeably stronger when the weather starts to warm in the Spring. :D

It seems to me that the polls punished any team that lost to Minny last year, at least into late January. I also remember discussion to the effect that ND/UMD/Wisc/OSU were not ranked as high as they should have been without their losses to Minny and would miss the NCAA tourney as a result.

The problem was/is that if you play in the WCHA, you had four losses to Minny. Four in the loss column really hurts in the rankings and the pairwise, if you then play let's say 500 against the rest of your top ten opponents, it adds up to more in the loss column compared to other top ten teams not in the WCHA.

Yes, and this seems to be something that Rutter corrects for, which I like. I wonder (and this is probably the wrong thread for it) how Rutter looks if you leave Minnesota out altogether?
