Women's DI Rankings/Polls 2013-14

after last year, shame on the schools who schedule Lindenwood and not Mercyhurst
if you are a bubble team and get passed over for the NCAA's
or end up on the road when you should probably be hosting
it is your own fault

Nope
See: UND/mercyhurst SOS comparison last year

Nope
See: UND/mercyhurst SOS comparison last year

I understand that UND had the tougher SOS
I was referring to the fact that UND played Lindenwood & RIT (and Clarkson) non-conference last year
if they had scheduled Mercyhurst last year, or this year, and beat them, that pretty much settles who should get the higher seed in the tournament
Mercyhurst wants tougher competition? give it to them.

After last night's result against MSU (yikes) I'm not so sure wins against Mercyhurst are going to help teams in the RPI very much this year.

And BU needed OT to dispatch a school that no one could even find while using Google until last week?? Yeah, BU's going to have a rough year.

hmmm...little quick on judgement

BC needed an empty net just to get a second goal on UWO.
Lakers played Western last week and won 6-2 SOG 53-15
Most everyone, in Canada, knows where UWO is and knows that is one of the most difficult schools to be accepted at for academic admissions in Canada.
"Western" is in the city of London here in Southwestern Ontario and it's HUGE.

Re: Women's DI Rankings/Polls 2013-14

Man you North Dakota fans sure are delusional.

"This USA Hockey poll is nonsense, we are way too low, surely the USCHO voters will realize that we are #2 in the country!"

HA HA HAAAAA
Well North Dakota did win 12-1 this weekend (including 2 in OT).....lol....I think most schools would list that as 10-1, but stats are important in ND. (And yes, I realize they were experimenting with new OT rules and shootouts.)

Yeah shots in the last two periods of BC's game were 31-8, I think we played just fine. We also didn't allow two goals on 15 shots like those frauds in Erie.

Neat. I'm sure a lot of people in Thailand know where Kasetsart University is but that doesn't mean I should be particularly impressed with their women's hockey team.

UWO ... is one of the most difficult schools to be accepted at for academic admissions in Canada.
Oh please. BC is 31st in the US News & World Report Rankings. The closest thing I can find to "Western" is Western Michigan in 181st. Congratulations, Directional Michigan was ranked and these guys weren't.

That's gotta sting.

North Dakota played a team called "Pursuit Of Excellence."

Think about that for a second.

Re: Women's DI Rankings/Polls 2013-14

Oh and by the way, UWO's acceptance rate is 58%. Difficult admission indeed.

Consider me blown away. What is that, like, 30% in Canadian?

And they dominated them, as they should have.

That's all you need to know. If it was close, people would be concerned.

Knowing your brand of humour that was funny. :D

Now I gotta defend the "R U Purple" team, as I have direct connections. UWO, or Western as most Canadians know it is one of the so called "big Canadian Ivy's" along with the likes of Queens, UofT and McGill. Very hard school to get into with a long and storied history. They might not measure up hockey wise to BC, but they sure measure up on the academic side.

It absolutely is an outstanding educational institution *sigh* ...poor TTT...just doesn't have a clue

Funny how TTT is consistently a fountain of misinformation on topics that he has no knowledge base of :D

Re: Women's DI Rankings/Polls 2013-14

The 35,000 + students enrolled at Western appreciate your support.

I have no idea if they pay attention to hockey but three of my best students while I was teaching in Xi'an over the summer attend UWO the rest of the year.

Canadian Ivy huh? Is that like Little League for colleges?

Re: Women's DI Rankings/Polls 2013-14

pokechecker,

Jung found that the primary American 'archetype'- roughly, what persona was most favored by the majority of respondents/test participants, was the ... an Indian ... native American ... indigenous native ... and, I believe, specifically, the Eastern Woodland Indian.

No "team" in USA/Canada that I know of has a symbol for the women and a symbol for the men. Perhaps is time.

Anyone?

Minnesota Timberwolves/Minnesota Lynx

And many teams prefixed their name with “Lady” although I’m not sure that any still do.

“Most of us in our dreams want to have been Indians”

I’m more than a little skeptical about this claim. And if it was Jung’s finding that the favoured persona of Americans was the Indian, I’d like to know what the other choices were!
