I don't think I've ever witnessed the game where UW scored nine goals and only three players scored goals. And I also don't believe I've seen a four goal game by a player. Last one to do that was......?
Completely shocking how the Badgers completely dismantled St. Cloud. UW's compete level was out of this world.
Eden is the most underappreciated star UW has ever had. I think we've all become numb to her awesomeness. Only the fourth Badger to score 100 goals in a career, with an extra season of course.
The team also got my memo about not getting killed in face-offs in game one. They absolutely destroyed St Cloud in the face off circle.
- Eden's COVID season was only 15 games, having only enrolled/transferred at Christmas. But she has also played a whole lot of post-season games. Counting today, she has played in 173 games, with - we hope - eight more to go. That would put her at 181 total. The most ever is O'B at 183, followed by Britta Curl at 179. Six other COVID era players in the 170s. The most non-COVID is a tie at 163 between Erica Lawler and Angie Keseley; both played 2006-2010, meaning also a whole lot of post-season games.
- The answer to who the other three to get 100 goals is completely guess-able: Knight, Decker and Duggan. Those who finished in the 90s are Brooke Ammerman with 98, O’B with 97, and Annie Pankowski with 96
- One five goal game in Badger history, by who else? Hilary Knight.
- Today was the 10th ever Badger four goal game. Last one (unless there was another this year, and I looked, none vs Stonehill) was Laila vs St Thomas in Jan of 2024. Interestingly, looking at the list of those four-goal games: Knight has none, Decker has none, Duggan has none ... and Brooke Ammermann has three of them. LOL
- Only once has Wisconsin had three players get a hat trick in the same game; September of 2023 vs Lindenwood. Eden with three, Sophie Helgeson with three, and Cassie Hall with four. Nine players in all scored, final was 16-1. Today, a little bit before Eden got her 4th, Pieckenhagen had a really good look at what would have been her third.
