Wisconsin Women's Hockey 2025-2026

Curl was the last one cut last time, was an "alternate" who then tried to get there to join the team when Decker was injured, but got stuck in COVID quarantine, and as far as I know, never actually made it through to join the team. So I'm happy to see she made it this time.

Like Curl, maybe Eden will make it next time around.

I hope to see O'Brien in 4 years too. - Hopefully her PWHL career puts her in that position.

15 out of 23 US players from B1G teams. Penn State should try to play every B1G team every year. Even if it’s just a one game series. Tessa Time won’t last forever, Delaware (not them specifically but a 7th team taking up 4 games)dilutes the schedule and this would be a fun anomaly to attract more players.

Edwards got Edwards spot.
Guilday got the last spot that should have been Wilgren’s.
Zumwinkle got Eden’s spot
Curl got O’Brien’s spot even though Curl has never played center.
For whatever reason the coach has a strong dislike for O’Brien’s game… probably produces too much offensively.

I can at least entertain your comment about forward vs d Timothy. I get it.

To curl vs OB, guilday vs Wilgren, I think what the current coach likes is size. Team USA seems massive but also somehow skilled and fast.

Wilgren doesn’t have much of a USA Hockey resume. She possibly already got the benefit of the doubt by having Wrobo be from the same state as her.

Would love to see Canadas roster but like Buckyb said they are in disarray.

So it should line up like this for the 8 games missing the Olympic players.
7 11 6
2 14 16
24 18 8
12 19

22 9
20 3
21 17

Stewart will play
I can live with that. Getting to keep Eden makes me think they have the potential to run the table with the absences, barring no injuries. The D is a bit thin, but Jones is rounding out nicely. They play UM, TWSNBN, MSU and St. Cloud.

Simms is small. If they plug her into the 3rd/4th lines and keep her off the PP, that would be lame. I'd much rather O'B or even Eden/Compher than her in that roll.

Fair enough. All hard calls and you know the Wisconsin players games.

From Hailey Salvian on Simms after the rivalry series. Sounds like 23 vs 25 person roster is what got Compher and possibly Eden.

I suspect Simms NCAA championship moments helped her too.

“Simms was perhaps the biggest debate we had at the bottom of the U.S. lineup. She’s not your typical fourth-line winger — Jesse Compher might fit that role more traditionally — and she also took two bad offensive-zone penalties in Wednesday’s game.

However, given the 23-player roster, Wroblewski might want someone like Simms as a failsafe in case of injury higher up the lineup.

“It changes the way you pick a team,” Wroblewski said about the women’s roster limit. “Normally … You could take that maybe gritty, heart and soul type of player as your 12th and 13th roles knowing that you could bring along a more skilled player as a 14th player, and have her in the seats. Then if somebody gets hurt, now you have that ability to inject a skilled player.

But without that 14th player, now you have to really think about, ‘What if that power player got hurt?’ You’re not gonna have her in the waiting as the 14th player, so you might be thinking about making sure that she’s a part of your 13, which changes the dynamic of your group.”

If we’re reading the tea leaves correctly, Simms might have the inside track.“

Brianna Decker got hurt in the first game in 2022 and it never felt like the US had a chance to beat Canada after that. Simms hasn't always played her best in a USA uniform but if they left her off the roster I think I'd feel the same way I do about the men leaving off Jason Robertson.

The US has a very strong squad and a deep pool. It is subjective but you could trade out the bottom six forwards with any that were cut and not skip a beat. It will be different four years from now and will still be a great squad. Very disappointed for Lacey Eden because she works extremely hard. Watched her in person in those last two OSU games and her passion was on display with every shift. Let’s be happy to have her back in the line-up and get on with being the only player in history to win 4 Nattys.

Here's hoping that Eden will take out any frustrations she's feeling on TWSNBN and Mankato. And that everyone who's going to Milan will return healthy and ready bring home another Natty.
