Wisconsin Women's Hockey 2024-2025

Must have been. She missed her sophomore season due to a knee injury (suffered while playing soccer) which could have been a factor given when players normally commit.

Maybe our Gopher friends who also pay attention to Minn high school hockey can tell us more.

Aww, that's too bad, but I get wanting to move on to the next stages of her life. Best Wishes to her!

Yes I completely agree. IIRC, she had her masters already per the senior night career achievements listed.

Come on Maddy and K-C, re-up and revenge.

Yes I have 6 as well.

Yes, we're still at 6, but already that's better than 5. A one and done D for depth would likely be a good addition in terms of the 24-25 season. But I really like what this gives us when you look at the long-term plan.
Juniors - Caroline Harvey, Vivian Jungels
Sophomores - Laney Potter, Ava Murphy
Freshman - Emma Venusio, Grace Bickett
2025-2026 (committed) - Mackenzie Jones, Rachel Gorbatenko

That is a nice wave of talented defensewomen at a nice pace

An April of senior year commitment for a tiny, uncommitted D that will need to play in the top 6? Woof. Fortunately, your forwards will have the puck for most of every game they play, and Harvey and Jungels can eat big minutes. Their timing obviously reflects that they were interested in Disher and Swiderski and lost.

Once again, Nadine has opened her vacuum cleaner full blast into the portal. Is anyone paying attention? Is anyone looking into NIL-related mischief?

MJ basically rolls 4 D anyway in the big games and Venusio easily is a top 5 d, so they can run 5 a rotation no problem and win.

Don't disagree, but Helgeson, Kotlowski, KK, and Murphy all missed time this year due to injury. Rolling with only 6 is really cutting it thin if you lose a player or two for any time

Meh, I don't know why it wouldn't be expected. Only two schools have won a title since 2018. We aren't going to go portal hunting, and quite frankly there was nobody in the portal this year I would have penciled in as a Top 6 (maybe Top 9 depending on if you're as high on McCarthy and Scannell as I am) Forward or Top 4 D for us. Reality is if you're in the portal and you want minutes you ain't getting them in Madison.

Yeah I completely agree. MJ's just been really tight on having extra personnel the last few years. I don't know if that's by design or he didn't get who he wanted so he got nobody. Six is doable but not ideal.
