having good camaraderie between your goalies is an under rated point for sure

I suspect the staff is working on getting a 3rd goalie or has one that hasn’t been announced. Potential injuries, optimal workload, mental health, potential Team USA camps in addition to Wisco stuff, running practices that don’t exhaust your goalies, these are all reasons to get a 3rd goalie and there is no shortage of goalies in the portal.

games played by national champ winning goalies the past few years:

Kirk 24
Kronish 31
Thiele 23
Blair 21
Campbell 41
Tiley 40
Tiley 37

Not impossible for McNaughton to play a ton and win a national championship but if it were me I’d be looking for a third goalie now and worry about the future later. 2 more years KK’s class, I wouldn’t waste a year light on goalies if it’s at all avoidable.
 
Is there any chance Gervais will reconsider? The Colgate goalie withdrew from the portal after testing the transfer waters.

Her funding may have gone to someone else. From a team chemistry standpoint would it be risky to bring her back when she's already left due to presumably being unhappy about losing the starting gig 2 years in a row? It could be, it depends on how she is mentally wired.
 
It's come to my attention you guys are getting a very interesting portal transfer. I don't know for certain when it will be announced officially but it should be soon and the discussion on forum when it's made public should be lively.

If you're talking about Quinn Kuntz, I still need somebody to explain to me how she has eligibility. There were two years when she played a game or two early and then not at all after that. Unless one of those turned into a medical hardship year, I don't see how she has eligibility to play anywhere.

No disrespect to Quinn but with her lack of playing time at Ohio State I'm not sure how much she can contribute to your program. If MJ was looking for a goalie you'd think he'd want someone with incredible stats? I didn't think she'd land at a top tier program.

If it isn't her you're hinting at, you can just say "it isn't her I'm hinting at". Better yet, instead of hinting with your usual "I know something you don't", (assuming you actually do know something) you could just frikking say what you know.

We heard about it a month ago and are just waiting confirmation. MJ doesn't need another starter, just an insurance policy. I'm sure she's been coached up real well by the previous administration so I'm pretty confident she'll do just fine when needed. Plus I'm pretty confident our goalie coach will to be able to elevate her game.

It was and still is unclear to me as to whether you were referring to Kuntz, or not. Are you constitutionally able to simply post something declarative, and not your usual "I know something you don't" nonsense?

This is the one time I might find your "inside info" useful. Are you aware of Kuntz having been granted a medical hardship for one of the years when she played in an early game and then not again during that year? I mean, don't you have her full medical history of you cell phone from the last time you played golf with the team doctor?

I do not argue with trolls. I label them and move on with my day. If the trolls respond in troll-like fashion, I contact the admin and get them sent to where trolls belong.

I wouldn't argue with him. The point is hockey brings us together from all vantages in life. We have a love for UW hockey in common.

Another heart warming thing is the picture I saw of all the UW grads with MJ and Maddie and Jane were in the picture. I wish them nothing but the best. I think we need to make sure and we stay unwound and treat each other with kindness and respect.
 
Since Gervais apparently has not found an option to her liking in the portal as yet, might she ”recant” and return for the coming season? True, she would not share goalie duties equally with McNaughton, but she probably still would see quality action in a number of games (10-12?) in relief of McNaughton.

Or has Baker quietly developed to a point where she is viewed as an option for providing McNaughton with occasional games off?

I don't think there's any funding for her. I don't mind McNaughton playing every game because it's only twice a week. It's only been the last 2 years where they've been split timing goalies, at least in the modern time.

First 4 of the first 5 series against ranked teams, 3 on the road. Only 1 home series in November and none in December. That sucks. That is the heart of hockey season. I am getting sick of that other team being the last home series, but the victories will be sweet. I'd prefer a bigger cupcake for the Sr. day series. Last season UW had 3 N/C series, so one would assume 3 this season. Ideally a December home series or pre-UMD home series would be ideal in my eye anyway. I believe UW is going to BC this year if I recall correctly. I'm not sure about the other 2 series. Maybe Lindenwood returns the UW road trip this season. I'm not sure when Merrimack will get a return trip from UW.
