This kid must be really dumb if he couldn't even get into UW....heck Koko the monkey could pass the Sconi admissions.

now, you do understand the University of Wisconsin has admission standards that make U of Rats look like kindergarten, right?

I've seen maybe 10 of your posts and I just will come out and say you're the dumbest poster I've seen on this board. either that or you just like being a ********. either way, go back to gopherpucklive

Ignore the pig. Besides, It's not that Strang didn't get into school, he didn't meet the NCAA guidelines.

Correct me if I am wrong, but all the clearinghouse decides is if a player can play immidiately as a incoming freshman.

Does that mean that he just can't play next year or that he can't have anything to do with the team even if he enrolled at UW?

If he were to come to UW and do well in the fall semester would he be able to join the team in Jan or would he have to put up acceptible grades for a full academic year?

I believe you are correct on the first part. I do not know the answer to the rest. I will try to look in to it. Looking back at his quotes I get out of it that he would be inelligible for sure for the entire first year.

That was my gut feeling also. I wonder how easy to accept a forced redshirt year would be to keep open the chances of playing at UW, particularly if he was not allowed any offical contact with the team.

I think the no contact thing would be hard. I mean he wouldn't be able to practice with the team so realistically he'd be taking an entire year off of hockey. Sure, he could hook up with a men's league team and I'm sure someone would make sure that the kid is getting ice time but that mental hurdle is tough to clear.

Additionally, we're not even sure if he can get in to the University at this point. He indicated that he was still thinking about enrolling at UW but if he can't pass the clearinghouse can he pass admissions at UW? He told Baggot he didn't have a 2.0. The coaches have pull in the admissions office but not for a kid who isn't going to be with the team for at least a year, if ever.

With a 1.97 or whatever was reported, can he even get into a UW school?

(Sorry, edited my own post. I know of a handful of guys who have.)

Plus I'm sure the UW-SP coaching staff has an "exception" for a couple of players a year. I know this is a common thing for D-3 schools to get a few exceptions in to school.

With Strang not coming who comes in now. I really don't know of any forward recruits out there, we could bring in Navin but that's straight out of Wisconsin high school. Plus it's looking more and more like Gards and Schultz will leave, leaving us may be searching for another d-man.

Gardiner and Schultz are replaced by Daly and Mccabe. Faust, Simonelli, Ramage, Springer would figure to fill it out and Drake as #7, with R. or S. Little as back-ups.

at least that's what *I think* will occur.

Re: Wisconsin Recruiting: What are you going to do, when NHL-U, comes calling for you

I doubt we put any Little on D as they have played decent up front this year. I wasn't as worried with D but fowards can be iffy, a top notch late puck up would be great.

For what it's worth there will be a new coaching staff at UWSP next season as Wil Nichol is done effective 6/1 as he has accepted a front office position of some variety with a NHL team. No idea how this will affect recruiting and no idea who the next head coach will be as I'm sure, like last time, there will be a long list of applicants.

I figured that wouldn't be popular. A lot of it is personal preference, especially since they're very different types of players. I just think Helgeson ends up being more valuable to his team than Schultz will.

Haha, I found this quote from the first page, found it funny. How's that working out so far? :D

I was joking about this on twitter a few weeks ago...I did not get a response from Chris...

Looks like Eaves has found his replacement for Cody Strang. Joseph LaBate from the Academy of Holy Angels committed to Wisconsin for 2011 today according to The Hockey News.

Re: Wisconsin Recruiting: What are you going to do, when NHL-U, comes calling for you

wow. so Joseph LaBate is a top 5 MN HS player? if that's true then this is a hell of a pick-up. this makes the 11-12 class look much, much better w/Daly, Mccabe and Rumpel. Hopefully Woods picks it up and the UW sophmores take big strides next season.

I think Strang would have made more of an impact next year but LaBate has more potential.

It will be interesting to see which of the incoming freshmen crack the lineup consistently next year.

definitely

Smith-Murray-Zengerle
Barnes-Clark-Mersch
Dahl-Lee-Hartzog
Little-Little-Meuer

Paape-Lapic-Woods-LaBate

I'm not sure where guys like Meuer, Hartzog, S. Little, and Clark fit as I haven't seen them play enough. I'd hope that incoming frosh push those guys for icetime and that Woods and LaBate would be every game players, possibly Paape as well. I don't know anything about Lapic.
