Re: Wisconsin Recruiting Vol. XXX: 1 All American at a Time

Were the Hults' brothers on the Wisconsin's radar being local kids?

Re: Wisconsin Recruiting Vol. XXX: 1 All American at a Time

Bo can find the next Steve Nash out there for all I care, I just want Eaves to step his game up or be gone.

Re: Wisconsin Recruiting Vol. XXX: 1 All American at a Time

Caleb Jones signed with Portland today.

And the air rushes through the hole in the balloon. Tkachuck and Mathews should end up elsewhere soon and the reality of the hand we have already been dealt will have to be played next season without a chance to discard and draw a couple good cards. Can't wait to see what Eaves lines up with Boesser, Zullnick, and Ford's scholarship money.

Tkachuk will go to London and Matthews will go to the WHL. Only a matter of time.

Since they aren't bringing in Berkovitz next year I thought it was important they bring in a d-man that can make an impact. I don't see that happening with the available options. Basically left with zero depth on the back end once again. Better hope one of the top six in the rotation don't get hurt.

At least the Brewers are playing well to distract us from this mess.....Oh crap, never mind.

Luke Opilka made an interesting tweet this morning...

The text of Opilka's tweet for convenience:

"Congrats to the almost college roommate @Jones4Caleb for signing with the Portland winter hawks #Chl #showbound"

Edit: I see EODS posted the link.

I can't say I was surprised on Jones but I did think he was a good fit here and there was a reasonable chance. Wonder if not knowing who the assistants will be factored in to it at the end.

I'd wager the fact the program is going nowhere was also a consideration.

Fabbro still very interested in the Badgers according to a source. Waiting to see how the coaching search shakes out.

Oooh man that would've been so cool. I certainly didn't think he was coming here (based on what I've read), but the idea that Wisconsin was in serious consideration just makes me think "if only, if only."

Re: Wisconsin Recruiting Vol. XXX: 1 All American at a Time

If anybody wants to keep a very thin hope alive to pass the time, there was this NHL.com article a few days ago mentioning UW as still a possibility for Auston Matthews:

"Auston Matthews, who many project to be the top pick in the 2016 NHL Draft, told NHL.com this week that a decision on where he will continue his hockey career might be made in the next couple of weeks.

The 17-year-old left-handed shot said he intends to finish high school with the National Team Development Program in Ann Arbor, Mich., before returning home to Scottsdale, Arizona. Matthews (6-foot-1, 194 pounds) said he will sit with his family and advisor before announcing a final decision.

If Matthews opts for college, his destination could be one of six schools: Boston University, Boston College, the University of Michigan, the University of Denver, the University of North Dakota, or the University of Wisconsin. His Canadian Hockey League rights are owned by the Everett Silvertips in the Western Hockey League. The Silvertips selected Matthews in the third round (No. 57) of the 2012 WHL bantam draft.

"

Someone needs to reach out to him and see if he'd recommend a guy for assistant coach.
