The Vees tweeted that the early college entry rumors were false.
98-born Trenton Bliss has committed to Wisconsin. Senior-to-be at Appleton United this season.

If he's a '16 projected to arrive in '18, I'd think there is a lot of unknown.
It's not that early if he just finished his junior year. HE must see something, and if he has a hell of a year in 2016-17, I'm sure they'd find a way to bring him in.
Which makes me wonder if he's not a potential top end guy, why offer so early?
I'll admit, I have some concerns about the timing of the offer as well. I'm a bit gun-shy on offering in-state kids that aren't super high-end while they are still in high school. I'm probably too critical on this, but I don't love making this offer when I highly doubt he comes in before 2018 with the kids lined up in front of him. That means he likely has three full seasons left before he'll ever hit campus. I would have liked to see them wait until he at least goes through the HS Elite League with Team Wisconsin in the fall.
I don't see Bliss as a kid that can make a USHL roster next season. At least not make a USHL team and make an impact. Should Wisconsin be in the business of offering a guy like that right now, three years in advance? I don't know. The longer the time between the offer and the player hitting campus, the more risk there is. It's kind of the same concern I had when they offered Joey Abate last year. He's a third-line type winger that isn't going to be a big scorer in college. Why are they offering him a full-ride 3+ years in advance of him coming to campus? They can find a comparable player to play the role Abate will play in college the fall before he needs to come to campus. Why not get that role out of an experienced guy in the USHL where you know what you're getting instead of grabbing him out of midget minor? It doesn't make sense to me.
With that said, I'm sure Bliss had offers from other schools but really, really wanted to be a Badger. I'm almost certain he took a Wisconsin-friendly scholarship offer. And don't get me wrong, the kid can play. He had a huge camp last year against the best players in the country at the US Select 16 festival in NY when he had 4 goals and 6 points in 6 games. He's a skilled player that can put up some points. I hope it works out, I really do. But I wish Wisconsin protected themselves a bit more instead of worrying about letting players get out of state.
Sure sounds like Eaves as changed his recruiting tactics...good grief another 3rd liner, cause, ya know? Grinders win championships...I don't know why I read about Wisconsin hockey anymore
I meant Abate will play the role of a 3rd line-type guy. Bliss has more offensive upside than that, at least from what I've seen so far. I apologize for the confusion.
I probably mcread your post... Can we nominate you for HC? You'd have the recruiting down cold
