You cannot just minus the Illuminati.

I think there's only one man for the job to find out the truth...

Committed recruits Tyler Inamoto and Mick Messner invited to NTDP Evaluation Camp. As is Stevens Point's Brock Caufield (Ohio State).

Re: Wisconsin Recruiting Vol. XXX: 1 All American at a Time

Mitch Hults (Stoughton native -- Madison Caps USHL) committed to Minnesota today.

From Hammy on GPL

I'm told Hults had offers from BU, Ohio State, UMD, Mankato, LSSU and Wisconsin. Apparently UW tried to jump in late with an offer for the kid once they heard he was getting good offers but it was too late in the kid's mind (typical Eaves... did the same thing with Nate Condon). Sounds like he had some other offers the prior year from out east (a la Northeastern) but the preference was to play closer to home.

I know the Northeastern thing was true last year so I have no reason to believe this information isn't accurate.

Before you guys take out the torches here, Hults is a depth forward. Probably a bottom-six guy in college. Interesting, nonetheless.

So you are saying first line talent on this year's Badgers?

Why even jump in late of that's the case? The Condon thing bothers me way more than this. I don't understand why Eaves is not out front of a local guy with talent considering he's a drive away from watching as often as the staff wants to.

Not overly worked up over this as we have limited scholarship dollars/spots going forward and have a roster full of bottom 6 (or worse) forwards. We need guys that can actually put the puck in the net and play a top 6 role way more.

I think what should bother you is the way it was handled by your coaches. Not so much because of ability of the player but more along the lines that he is local, he wanted to be a Badger in the past, and he wasn't shown "love" from them until a last ditch bandwagon effort (which backfired because it apparently upset him). That's not how to handle recruiting... especially with a local. You have to be more adept at massaging situations than that.

I know UW has some in-state kids in the pipeline but I get the feeling your head coach can be a tad inept in these situations.

We get the impression that the staff is painfully inept at many levels beyond this specific situation.

Any chance that's Paul Caufield's kid? I played against Paul when he was UW-Point and he was a beast...

Edit: a quick google search reveals that it is.

Indeed it is. And his younger brother is even better.

Communication has been a chronic problem when it comes to recruiting with this staff.

Re: Wisconsin Recruiting Vol. XXX: 1 All American at a Time

Don't know all the back story but a guy like Hults being upset for not being shown love earlier by the Badgers... well, if he had more than 11 pts last year in 36 gp perhaps he would have been shown a little more love. He'll be 21 in the fall and has a respectable 13 g 32pts in 48gp this year for the Caps, but we have 18 year olds coming in all with better numbers. Never know, he may end up being great but I have a feeling if UW signed him any earlier there wouldn't have been much joy around here either. Kid wants to be a rodent and not a Badger? Fine. He's dead to me now.
