Re: Wisconsin Recruiting Vol. XXX: 1 All American at a Time

I believe Berkovitz had mono, thus the stint on IR. It could realistically slow him all year.

Tri-City is 16-10-5 which is good for 3rd in the West Division.

Yes, surprisingly it wasn't the mumps.

Thanks for the other thing, I have absolutely no idea what I was writing about Tri-City. But I don't do this professionally. I don't even do it amateurly. Mostly just poorly.

Are you going to get his teammate from wisconsin?

Assuming you're talking about Dovorany. Are the Badgers going to get him? I don't know. He has interest from many of the big schools. I have to be careful on what I can say with my job in terms of this stuff but he's a solid 2-way guy that I know UW had interest in. Not sure how heavy, I know they were interested in some other guys at that age level as well.

Oddly enough he's Nate Condon's neighbor.

Are all those schools considered equals or is there a leading candidate. Surprised that Harvard and Yale in picture. Must be bright!

The article states that Wisconsin is believed to be the front runner. I believe it too!

I didn't read the article, but could he accelerate? BCHL isn't a great league for a first rounder in his draft year.

Jason Clark's stat lines since 2010/2011

35 GP in NCAA, 2 A
20 GP in AHL, 3 A
48 GP in ECHL, 2 G 7 A

Currently out indefinitely with an undisclosed injury

Who is the most upset over this?
Garth Snow
Mike Eaves
Chuck Schwartz
Andy Johnson

He still could've been something here. Or at least scored more.

Re: Wisconsin Recruiting Vol. XXX: 1 All American at a Time

Made it to the USHL/NHL Top Prospect game and luncheon Tuesday in Dubuque. Eddie Olczyk spoke at the lunch and did a really nice job. He's a pretty passionate guy about the game and about the USHL (his three sons have all played in the league).

There were over 100 NHL scouts representing every NHL team in attendance at the game including 10 from the Chicago Blackhawks.

During the skills competition Brock Boeser's top slap shot speed was 91 mph. Matt Freytag and Seamus Malone both won their obstacle course races.

I didn't think Brock Boeser did much in the first two periods of the game but his line sustained some pressure in the third period.

Matt Freytag was really good with the puck. He controlled the puck very well in the offensive zone multiple times and did a nice job finding open players. He seems to skate a bit upright when going full speed.

Seamus Malone was pretty good without the puck. He seemed to have a real feel for the game and where he might have an chance at regaining puck possession when on defense. He seemed really calm and poised no matter what the situation was on the ice.

Former Wausau West forward Kevin Conley (Colorado College commit) and his line dominated the first period with a bunch of goals (Conley had two of them). He was named MVP for Team East. Conley was added to the game late I think as a replacement for someone with an injury. I guess that's a pretty good testimonial for the depth of talent in the USHL when he then goes on to be MVP for his team...

It was a little different going to this game as in most traditional games you see the higher-end players on the ice a lot, and at this event they were showcasing all 40 players so they rolled 4 lines. As a result you really didn't see the guys you wanted to see quite as much as you would have in a regular game setting.

The other thing I noticed is that the puck never was dumped into the zone. Puck control and puck possession were amazing to watch all night.

I did not end up going to the post-game autograph session as I took my 8-year old hockey playing daughter on the trip and she was pretty wiped out by the time the game ended. So, unfortunately I didn't get to interact at all with the future Badgers.

On the way home I stopped in Madison at Sam's Club and ran into Mark Osiecki. Apparently hockey was supposed to be my focus this week.

Anybody know if Stillwell is injured? Wanna say I heard that, but can't recall. I see he's only played 9 of 14 games this season.

My boy's team plays Notre Dame tomorrow and wondering if I'll see him.
