If we get desperate I say we just fly up to the BCHL and take a flyer on the first kid over 6'5" we see. Put him on a line with Soleway and Utaski next year and send 'em all to the net.

Looks like Eaves has his eye on a couple Canucks....

two targets from western Canada have emerged: winger Cameron Hughes (Spruce Grove, Alberta Junior Hockey League) and winger Adam Rockwood (Coquitlam, BCHL).

Red Line Report, an independent international scouting service, raves about Hughes, saying he has “terrific hands, stick skills and vision” and is “very gritty.”

RLR also weighed in on Rockwood, citing his high-end skating ability and playmaking instincts as the current BCHL assists leader.

Was told Cameron Hughes (Spruce Grove, AJHL) is a player we need to keep an eye on. Late 96 but will graduate this year and could be a '14 option. Source I spoke with called him an A+ skater, and a player who is about to blow up. Some big name schools already after him hard, although at least one of those schools doesn't have a '14 forward spot. I'll let you figure out which.

It would be funny if Chuck's post was the source for Baggot's article.

Tyler Sheehy has 3 goals and 5 points in his last four games for Waterloo.

Looking for a hockey fix tonight? It appears Wisconsin recruit Matthew Freytag (Wayzata) will be on webstream against Edina in a match up of two top 5 teams at 7:30. I believe the link is HERE.

Talent galore in this match up, but in addition to Freytag, keep an eye on Wayzata's Max Zimmer (sophomore). I love his game and I know the Badgers have shown some interest in him. Wouldn't surprise me at all if he is wearing the cardinal and white in the future.

Freytag is wearing No. 15 yellow, by the way. Zimmer No. 6.

It's 9:18 and it's still live...where I come from they don't resurface the ice between periods in "high school hockey!" :D

Seriously? Wow.

This is our high school league, as our interscholastic sports don't include ice hockey. Pretty much everyone in my house league also played with their high school or a travel team. In fact, we would play against high schools some weeks. We once played a high school that absolutely smoked us...the big reason was that they had one guy on the Washington Junior Nationals and one guy on the Little Caps. Those teams are really just the people at a school who happen to play hockey and want to play for the school team. I don't know how many practices they get during the week, but I'm sure it's far less than they get in WIAA and Minnesota hockey.

I mentioned in a different thread that Jay Williams went to my high school. One year as a freshmen standout and he was gone to the prep schools.

Next time a Minnesotan gets arrogant and says hockey isn't big in Wisconsin, you can tell them they're crazy. The hockey equipment selection at sporting goods stores (as opposed to pro shops at rinks) amazes me...full equipment, more sticks, and...they sell skates?!? Sell out Verizon Center as much as you want, that area is a long way from matching Madison.
