Personally, I'm wondering if there are any good late developing Canadians hanging around in Junior A. When did Justin Schultz commit?
Schultz was one of the premier recruits and on the radar of most everyone for quite a while. Think more Pavelski who came in as a 20 year old after he blossomed in two years of USHL.
I doubt there is anything that London said over the past few weeks (legally) that could have changed his mind.
Dvorak’s father, Ed, said Sunday the decision to change course came down to London offering a full educational package and the belief that his son’s odds of getting to the NHL are 'slightly better' with the Knights than going the NCAA route. I can’t tell you how difficult a decision it was, Ed Dvorak said, noting that the process began heating up 10 days ago. “It was very gut wrenching. It’s disappointing for (Eaves and his staff). I get that. But as parents we all try to do what’s best for our kids. It’s a dream of my son’s to play in the NHL.’’
Many times the NHL will come calling right after the season with big FA money.I thought the use of "slight" was the Dad's way of letting UW down gently.
I'd love to see a few late blooming Canadians end up on the roster.
Pav's came in at 19. He played his senior year at Waterloo.

Really?![]()
That's nothing we didn't already know. Full education package is something he would have gotten anyways. But who cares? It's void the second he signs a pro contract.
Just pointing out how ridiculously naive your statement, "I doubt there is anything that London said over the past few weeks (legally) that could have changed his mind" really is. London recently sent one of their reps from Chicago to meet with the Dvorak family to "make him an offer he can't refuse". A "full ride" is not guaranteed in the OHL and only 7 elite players/team are chosen recipients. That benefit and the fact that the London Knights have produced more first round NHL draft picks than any other team in the world, sealed the deal.
"But who cares"??Bitter much, Chuckie? Funny reading all the trash talk on here by butt hurt BADger fans slamming Dvorak's father and their family decision. Obviously, it mattered to the Dvorak family. If the CHLPA continues to apply legal pressure to increase the CHL benefits package by removing restrictions, the NHL/AHL void clause may be tweaked to his advantage in the very near future "anyways", if Dvorak needs it.
you know what is particularly funny to me is Minnesota Rat fans who are obsessed enough with UW hockey they feel the need to come in and comment negatively on the UW recruiting thread as if there's something to gain (for you, or...your team?) by that.
Guys like you make 6-5 the gift that keeps on giving. so cheers Harley, 6-5 and UW accomplished that playing in about 30 less seasons than Minnesota, pretty cool

I know you don't care, but Minnesota also only recruited in-state for roughly 30 years and primarily in-state for the program's whole existence.
Not to take away from your six championships, but Minnesota's recruiting practices (while making it harder for us to win championships early on) helped grow the sport in-state to where it is today.
So, I will gladly take our 5 NCAA titles (along with the more substantial quantity of conference hardware) and two early championships along with the great hockey culture we have in-state today over your 6 NCAA titles and lack of any substantial hockey culture any day.
Just saying.
That said, I can't stand the CHL recruiting practices (and the blatant half-truths used by the leagues staunch supporters) as much as anyone and genuinely feel for you guys on the Dvorak situation. As much as I would have hated to see him play against the Gophers, it sucks that I won't get to see him do so.
I get your point, I just don't get why there are MN fans coming to the UW threads to rub it in all the time, meaning rub in whatever bad news of the day there is for UW Hockey.
I don't recall UW posters doing the same when you have a recruit that falls through or someone leave early. It just gets old after I don't know, years and years of Rat fans doing it
Don't think you'll have to worry about the top end MN guys you recently snagged bolting to the CHL. And you guys got a few really good ones recently, so it's not all bad![]()
I've been guiltier of that than anyone, and apologize.
Surprised you didn't log in as JDubbs today.
