Re: Wisconsin Recruiting Vol. XXVI: Make him an offer he can't refuse

interesting that some high-end Wisconsin kids are leaving the state. was he on Eaves' radar?

Absolutely on the radar. It's a numbers game, however. I figure the Badgers will likely take around 3 forwards for 15-16, and 2-3 for 16-17.

So, you have 4-5 spots to play with over that two year window. They've already hit on a bunch of their top options. Seamus Malone will take one spot for sure in 15-16. Brock Boeser looks like he's ascending into 2015 if he continues on the path that he's on as well. Then you've got Luke Kunin penciled in for 16-17 and Matthew Freytag for a spot in there as well.

Basically, they have 1-2 spots for those two forward classes.

Badgers land NDTP U17 goalie from St Louis Luke Oplika. Another big time recruit for them.

Re: Wisconsin Recruiting Vol. XXVI: Make him an offer he can't refuse

Wouldnt mind if they land a couple more off that St Louis Blues U16 team. ALOT of talent

Quick scouting report from a source on Opilka: Really good kid, very athletic. Technically sound but can be a bit robotic. Advanced for his age.

Re: Wisconsin Recruiting Vol. XXVI: Make him an offer he can't refuse

Drafted by Kitchner Ranger$ in the 6th round of OHL draft....ugh.

BTW,regarding Seamus Malone; is it pronounced SHA-mus, like the WWF rassler, or SEE mus? Radio hacks and a TV guy, have been saying SEEmus (none of which have been Posick. I haven't heard Brian mention him.)

I'm leaning toward SHA-mus.

You're correct, it's SHA-mus.

cool, thanks. Incidentally I'm really liking Schuey's forward commitments thusfar, hopefully they have more luck replacing Dvorak.

Just did a quick story on Conley (here). Didn't have a Wisconsin offer, but was scheduled to visit this week (obviously he won't be going now). Said he felt at home with Denver coaching staff, style.

Of course we all were hoping for a F, but this is awesome news. This is the Grunwald insurance policy, and one heck of a great insurance policy at that. I hope Grunwald can be developed by Sanger, but if not, this guy should be ready to step right in. One less hole in the dike.

Can't be scared because a kids been drafted by a CHL club. UW's had millions of kids who have previously been selected, as have other schools. Have to recruit smart, not scared.

Not scared...in fact it is a real good thing that UW is recruiting/getting commits from kids drafted by CHL teams. To me, that means we are gathering quality hockey talent. Unfortunately, some of those kinds of kids end up never making it to campus and Kitchner is one that is pretty effective at changing kid$ mind$.

Keep an eye on Max Coatta early in the BCHL season. Minnetonka kid playing up in Penticton this season. Smaller guy who will be a 4-year type and can snipe. Can't believe I forgot about him before.

Millions of kids? **** is there whole JV and freshman hockey teams (A & B even) that none of us know about. ;)

...would think Union might have the inside edge with his brother Sam there.
