Wisconsin Recruiting Vol. III - Building a better tomorrow...today!

Re: Wisconsin Recruiting Vol. III - Building a better tomorrow...today!

Nobody ever said the vast majority aren't reasonable. Ever read the tweets to Milewski during and after games? There ARE a lot of idiots. "A lot" might be 100, or 50, or whatever -- if their vocal and stupid, it doesn't take much to constitute "a lot". IIRC, even Heller's response was, "Well... he wasn't wrong."

As far as Shuey goes, great guy who did his best, worked his *** off, and bled 10 years of his life for this program. 10 seconds of ill advised frustration comes out and the result was he got fired. What more do you want from him? Jail time? I'd say get over it, but folks do like to hold onto their grudges.

going off twitter replies is not reasonable by any measure.

as far as the other topic, you brought it up....

I once heard a guy say somewhere, "there are a lot of idiot fans out there." Guy wasn't wrong.

I would say it's the vocal minority, they type who would ***** about the doneness of a free porterhouse steak and that noodles in the free lobster mac and cheese were overcooked.

Oh, I agree. Calling them a minority isn't even accurate though as a minority at the KC could be 7000 people. It's a small number out of the whole. I could still call them "a lot" though given the size of the whole and their passion for "a lot" of demonstration.

First Rich, what is WFO?

Second for Wisko, the "local rink manager" was incorrect. The team at that time was a train wreck and he guaranteed getting fired with that comment about the fans that have supported him for decades. He lost me with that comment and I won't forget. With any team there are going to be a few dopes, but the vast majority are reasonable.

Wide ****ing Open. There was a YUGE sign hanging in the Coliseum in the late 70s to early 80s that simply said "WFO". I was always told it had something to do with what Scott or Todd Lecy shouted on the ice; can another old ****er elaborate?

Re: Wisconsin Recruiting Vol. III - Building a better tomorrow...today!

I remember the sign, I think the translation is right.... but that's all I got.

There are some really good Euro's available, but sometimes it's tough to get them in school. If that's even what they want. A good deal of the time they are looking to get noticed and sign a pro deal.

More Euros would be good by me, but they do have to get a little North American hockey going for them, too. I love Weissbach and he could really be a superstar here, but I did notice he had just 2 blocked shots on the year. With all that ice time you'd think you couldn't help but get hit by a couple more than that!

Or maybe he just wasn't quite quick enough to get out of the way of those two?

Senior D Luke LaMaster was named to the MN High School All-State First Team.

Senior F Ben Almquist was named to the Second Team.

Congratulations, boys.

Neutral Zone is putting up free content from the NTDP Evaluation Camp. Going in they had Tanner Latsch as the #7 forward, Daniel Laatsch as the #3 D, and Anthony Kehrer as the #6 D. Noah Grannen the G from the Jr. Admirals was their #3 goalie going into the camp.

After day 1 they mentioned they had Grannen as their #1 'tender, Daniel Laatsch had a goal, and they have gushed about Kehrer both of the first two days of camp.

Priority Selection is saying Tanner Latsch and Daniel Laatsch have been offered invites to play for the NTDP next year. Have not seen anything on Kehrer or Grannen but sure sounds like Kehrer played well. On top of Neutral Zone's reviews of Kehrer Jeff Cox was at camp and picked him for his hypothetical team as well.

I'm kind of surprised at the silence regarding G Maksim Zhukov. News was fast and furious around late January when he made an official UW visit.

On an unrelated note, due to my forever ongoing negotiations with DirecTV, I receive a special sports package which includes "Eleven Sports". I was watching the SHL (Svenska hockeyligan) before the NHL games tonight. Colorful ice, circus uni's, and fans constantly signing like a Euro soccer game.

I've seen a few video's of that crazy ice, I'm not sure how I feel about it. Part of me says COOL! Part of me says YUCK. I do love the Euro soccer game singing, I so wish that was part of the college atmosphere.

Being a Euro, I'm sure Zhukov's academic road into UW is not easy, let's hope they are just pounding a few square academic classes into some round holes to make this work.

With Zhukov I'd think there's as good a chance that he signs with Vegas and plays CHL next year as anything else. He'd still be eligible to play pro hockey the following season as he turns 20 the next summer. We'll see how it shakes out. Right now the Gamblers have a 2 point lead over Dubuque with 7 to play for the last playoff spot. If it stays that way it will be interesting as they play each other the last two games of the regular season in two weeks.

Well then they better find the next stud as I am sick of mediocre goalie play.

UW needs to get back to being goalie U. If you can't stop the puck it's pretty much a lost season. Again.

But Bill Howard was the reason Wisconsin gained the reputation as Goalie U. Is there another Goalie guru that Wisconsin can latch onto to resurrect the rep? Lacking that, I fear the Goalie U thing is now only Wisconsin history.

Exactly. Guys like Richter and Cujo iirc would come back to Madison to get their Howie fix.

Don’t know if there’s a guy like that out there but I would start with canvassing the guys who learned from him as a start point.
