Wisconsin Recruiting Vol. III - Building a better tomorrow...today!

I am calling on the spirit of Ulvis Katlaps to intercede on our behalf with Zhukov. Ulvis was a fine defensive D who had a good hockey sense and accumulated a solid number of assists. Ulvis, once a Badger always a Badger, we need 1 more assist please.

RIP Ulvis...he died afew years ago WAY too young. Keep calling him, Tim 😔

I wish I knew Zhukov was under the Badger microscope a few weeks ago when I saw him against the Capitols. I stood behind him for 2 periods, but really didn't "watch" him. I DID report that he was big at 6'3" X 190. This is his 2nd season in the U.S. with the Gamblers; I read Las Vegas drafted him in the 4th round.

I'll make an Ian's Pizza Bet that we sign him, just sayin`. 😉 👍 🏒 🇷🇺

Tony Granato is now following Zhukov on Twitter. Seems like an announcement might be forthcoming.

Brian Posick is following the USHL and re-tweeted a USHL tweet about how awesome Maksim is doing. That's a good sign I think. Maksim is a tweeter of few words, he has 1 tweet from 10/17/17. There is a response in Russian, we need a translator. Hopefully it translates to "congrats on going to Wisconsin."

"Good luck in the season, Max!"

Maybe that response was meant for 2018-2019! 😉

You (and DC) seriously know Russian or are you just yankin our chains?

I'm not really confident carrying a conversation, but I know a good deal. I'm an expert in Russian hockey cheers, though! ;)

The reply was just saying good luck this season, Max.

Tweet at him all the virtues of WI in Russian. That could seal the deal. Can't wait for the rodent games this weekend. We need to put a plan together to get that lazy band at all the UW homes games. I'm thinking of getting a TV station involved taking the angle of gender equality @ UW.

I was hoping the bump was for Zhukov. No such luck...

We WANT ZHUkov clap clap clap clap clap.

I suppose if Lebedef is 10 to 15% better than Berry we have a chance? I kinda wish Jurusik would have stuck around, in retrospect he may have beat out Hayton and Berry and had his Sr year left.

I predict UW will rue the fact they let Cruikshank get away.

I had totally forgotten Jack Becker was once a UW recruit, must have been an Eaves guy?

Yes, I'd like to know what happened with Cruikshank. UW had a pretty good pipeline with the BCHL, but I think C.C. had better and easier access to him. It's a good school in an awesome setting, too. I'm still not too excited about Lebedeff with him in the USHL IN THE PAST and today in the NAHL. He's C rated for this years' draft, which puts him 5th round at best, I believe. HOWEVER, I hope he has a tremendous chip on his shoulder and plays lights out.

The dark cloud over the goaltending situation is going to make it a long summer and an anxious fall. I don't think 4 lines of Shuchuck (80)/Tancill (71)/Sagisoor (47) would be enough to win half the games.

A top end Russian goalie to push Berry would be nice. I do think what is happening in front of the goalie position will improve from this past season to next. We are bringing in 4 guys that likely are being drafted, Kalynuk, Ess, & Inamoto will not be freshman, Greenway hopefully improves after missing half his sophomore season.

Re: Wisconsin Recruiting Vol. III - Building a better tomorrow...today!

Luke LaMaster was named the top MN senior D. Looks like he's also a captain. Also a candidate for Mr. Hockey, along with Ben Almquist.

Speaking of Luke LaMaster, he had an assist and was +3 as his Duluth East Greyhounds upset future Badger D Mike Vorlickey's Edina (cake eaters) in the AA Semi finals last night 4-2 and will play #1 Minnetonka for the title.

Vorlickey has been on the draft boards as a mid to late rounder and LaMaster hasn't. Have to think with his commit to the Badgers and his performance this year, some NHL teams are now giving him a second look for the late rounds as well. Janesville Jets and Chicago Steel hold LaMaster's rights for next year in their respective leagues.
