Wisconsin Recruiting V - Does it even matter?

Per College Puck NXT on X, USNTDP U-17 forward Lukas Zajic has committed to Wisconsin. He has 5 goals and 3 assists in 8 games this season.

5 "sign" on the dotted line...F's Montgomery (3g 7a in 10) (4th Rd Ottawa), Zelenov (4g 6a in 14)(7th Rd Buffalo), Deering (3g-10a in 17), Brink (6g 6a in 14), D Osburn (1g 6a in 14)(4th Rd Buffalo).

Thanks for the updates Tim! Are we looking at long term top 6 forwards from that signing group?

D looks pretty solid going forward. Need to replace Laatsch and Kehrer after this year. Dexheimer is the only senior next year. Schulz/Palodichuk as juniors. Hensler/Phelan/Knox as sophomores. Osburn as a freshamn. Nice and balanced.

An article on John Stout says he will be joining the Badgers next fall also. Was previously a Duluth commit.

Badgers get a commitment from WHL goalie Daniel Hauser for 2025.

https://uwbadgers.com/news/2024/11/2...ns-hockey.aspx

4 years in the WHL

Winnipeg 2.00 .914
Winnipeg 2.28 .917
Wenatchee 3.50 .900
Wenatchee 2.78 .913

I'm guessing he had a better team in from of him in Winnipeg vs year 1 in Wenatchee. This year the save percentage to date is back to the Winnipeg days. His .913 is 8th best in the WHL out of 52 goalies and the 2.78 is 9th for this season to date.

2005 born Oliver Tulk has committed for the 25-26 campaign. Plays for the Calgary Hitmen. He's in his 4th year there.

22 - 63 gp 9g 10a
23 - 68 gp 24g 36a
24 - 66 gp 40g 40a
25 - 30 gp (so far) 15g 34a - projects to 34g 77a

"Tulk's an adaptable passer, morphing the release point of the pass to the lane to ensure the puck gets through, and a capable shooter off the pass. And he's an overwhelming pressure machine, taking the extra stride to skate through the hands of the opponent instead of reaching." -EliteProspects 2023 NHL Draft Guide

The second line make me drool. SO many players DON'T do that. It drives me crazy.

I don't know what kind of league to WHL is compared to the BCHL or AJHL. Any insight anyone?

I'm not the most knowledgeable about Canadian Juniors, but the WHL is part of the CHL (major juniors) and is a tier above the BCHL or AJHL I believe, and also is a more competitive league compared to the USHL / any american junior league. Seems like a really great pick up to me.

Recent commit Oliver Tulk had a hat trick tonight for Calgary of the WHL. has 20g 41a through 37 games, and is right at the top of the league in total points. I'm no expert, but any highlights or gameplay I see from him certainly impress - he can create plays and scoring opportunities with ease. I think with any luck he could come in and be a huge positive from the moment he steps on the ice for the badgers.
