90% delusional, 10% troll. tDon could get canned due to them underpeforming and attendance being down, it's a longshot but if he was available, I'd take him over all others.
Gotcha. Fair enough.

The right coach is in Ann Arbor and I think he might be able to convince his older brother to come with him.
Don Granato would be a no-brainer. Maybe even call up Brian Rafalski and see if he'd have interest in teaching the d-men.
The Union coach I'm not convinced is the right guy. Not enough of a track record yet, and another guy with a temper problem?
I like Leaman's credentials taking two ivy league schools from sub .500 to winners.
meh on Gwoz, he's old.
Wisconsin needs to move the needle on a new coach before they fall into an abyss that could last a decade or more.

Being at the 3OT game is easily one of my favorite sporting moments of my life. I have never been in entire building that was that nervous. Man, hard to believe that was 10 years ago already.

I don't know exactly how much of a bump in pay Wisconsin would be, but I can't imagine it would be enough for Leaman and Bennett to leave schools where they have already won national championships, or for Blasi to leave his alma mater. Especially considering the state that the Wisconsin program is in right now.Rick Bennett - Union College
Norm Bazin - Lowell
Nate Leaman - Providence
Rand Peckhold - Q Pac
Mark Mazzoleni
Gwoz
or, current in state coaches:
Chris Brooks - Point
Tim Coghlin - SNC (although he may consider the UW job a demotion)

Tim Coghlin would win more games at UW than anyone who has been brought up in this thread. A moot point since we're still Leavin' it to Eaver, but you guys have no idea...
The attendance isn't a result of performance, or at least is not MUCH of a result due to performance.
Your regular game SRO ticket is $35, $40 for premium games this year.
They wanted $65/ticket/seat for the premium games, IIRC. That's insane.
The U is pricing out the regular fan.
Currently listening to coach Strand on radio..says "cleansing has been going on in practice this week". Excited for Eaves radio show tonight..to hear all the positives he had coming out of this past weekend.....

Someone in this thread pointed to Union having a .500 record this year as a reason Bennett would consider leaving. There is a huge difference between a program that won the NCAA title 2 years ago and is now a .500 team in a really good conference, and a program that was a #1 seed that went one and done in the tournament 2 years ago and has a winning percentage of .237 since then in a weak conference. You make it seem like Wisconsin's hockey program has been down for a long time. You do recall that they were a #1 seed 2 years ago. They have the facilities and overall academics to recruit well. They are also bringing in a solid recruiting class this coming year. A new coach would jump start this program.
