Due to Wittchow being suspended and Sexton hurt, McGuire could play D this weekend...

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXXVI: Stop looking for the silver lining and ignoring the probl

Before jumping to a conclusion on this young goalie....remember what Rumpels stats looked like last year. The team is just an overall poor hockey team. Esp, in transition and in it's own end.

A couple other factors to think about.

He probably should have played another year of Junior hockey. He was launched into a D1 starting position with the departure of the other goalie.
He has pretty much no back up. That has to be tough mentally.
Also, have I mentioned the team stinks in it's own end.

I think we all agree that Jurusik is in a tough spot because that ******** Opilka bolted, I don't hold anything against Matty. Had Opilka not bolted, they may have won 2 -3 more games so far this year. Oplika's leaving probably accelerated what most people hope to happen, though it does give MM a crutch in his meetings with BA and JK. In reality, goaltending is the least of UW's problems. Their D zone and transition D has not improved as much as I had hoped with Strand and Bittner. Also an issue is upperclassmen F under performing scoring-wise. It's not good.

Top committed recruits not wanting to come to Madison isn't exactly a good crutch to lean on.

watching NBC15 news today. The women's basketball team lost the game. Their coach was upset and called the team out. Said they need to hit the gym more, perform better. She has a bigger pair than Eaves does. Who just will come up with something like 'We need to put another coat of paint on the barn" or some other puzzling phrase. You know instead of making any sort of actual changes.

All true, but all I'm saying is that our goalie situation is at best so-so too and that we probably don't have the next Brian Elliott on the team.

Whoo, just scored free tickets to the MM farewell tour Sat. night! Not sure if I am excited about this.

Hughes is an alternate captain, at least for this weekend.

Another well attended game. Staff had to hold up the flag during the anthem because rows of students aren't here. At face off 22 students in the 200 section.
