Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXIX: Yes, this is the Rumpel Rink!

Peterson in net tonight. Reason given, Rumpel had 3 tests this weekend, including one at 6:45 this morning.

So, yeah. That's how Wisconsin is starting the season...

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXIX: Yes, this is the Rumpel Rink!

Exactly what I expected from the Badgers tonight. Good goal-tending, no offense. I also expect the goal-tending to stay good and the offense to improve as the year goes on. So we are right on plan now.

If getting outshot 31-14 by whatever it is UAF wants to call itself these days is "right on plan"...UW needs a new plan.

Did you think that the Badgers were a top 10 team this year? I know UAF is not a powerhouse, but this was 11 Badger's first game. Give them some time.

That was a tough game to listen to for sure. Getting man-handled by Fairbanks is discouraging as hell, however the puppies may learn to climb up and down stairs soon and then they'll be on a roll;)

In all seriousness though certainly hope they find a combination that will allow for a .500 season, those are my expectations. Anything above .500 is icing on the cake

You guys should be glowing compared to Sioux fans. An experienced team getting waxed 5-1 by BSU in their own building. Looking for some sign of liquid in the bottom of the glass.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXIX: Yes, this is the Rumpel Rink!

LaBate has been taking quite a few penalties, hasn't he?

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXIX: Yes, this is the Rumpel Rink!

What does taking penalties have to do with playing center? He played center half the season last year.

The only way that it has something to do with playing center is if he's finding himself out of position too often and if his rash of penalties are of the "stupid because you should've been somewhere else" variety.

And I'll need to actually watch a game before I can really comment on it.

They were mostly just stupid because he's being stupid variety. The last one he was defending his teammate, though, after Davison got knocked out. I have no problem with that one.

Good luck to Wisconsin the rest of the season. Your team gained a lot of respect from this Nanook fan tonight, however significant that may be, but I wanted to pass that along. I hope things turn around and improve from here on out (unless the Nooks somehow end up playing you again). Thanks to the team for making the trip up!

Regardless of how things go on the ice year in and year out, Wisconsin has generally recruited and been blessed with kids of very good character and I've always been very proud of the program in that regard. I've had occasion to spend a lot of time at UW Children's hospital in the past and without exception, Badger players have always been outstanding in their interactions with patients and fans on their regular visits. Obviously nothing is 100% but we've really been fortunate to have had tremendous people come through the program over the years.

On the ice, I think we all knew we were going to face big challenges early on and we certainly didn't expect this to be a record setting year by any stretch, and yet already we have Joe LaBate taking the bull by the horns! He is on pace to utterly shatter Jason Zent and Dan Plante's all time season record of 56 penalties in 42 games, Joe's season extrapolating out to an astonishing 85p in 34gp! Way to go Joe!

Glad to see a couple young Badgers break through last night. I gotta believe Davison will be out for awhile... Any word on Eddie Wittchow that I missed?

Any video of the hit on Davison?
