Boy I hope you guys are right. I just don't have the confidence with this team. I hope they prove me wrong...

I just saw a pretty neat commercial for this weekend's series.

And another.

Fallon's first Tonight Show? I was looking away during the commercials and thought, "hey, that sounds like the Kohl Center's goal horn". Sure enough. Good to see some ads/publicity for the last home games of the season.

I think it's possible, but it's all a question of character and mental toughness. This team is very capable of getting up for big opponents, so I do feel they will play well in the B1G tournament, where a win or two may be the key to getting a top seed. The next six are the problem. They are all low in the rankings and harder to get up for, but there's no room for error as we can't make up ground until the B1G tournament. If no one's RPI were to change (obviously, that won't happen) I believe WI would need all six to get to #4. (Plus maybe a tourney win to stay there. Sadly, sweeping OSU would have had us there now.)

Going to the NCAA's a #1 seed is a huge advantage, but the question is, can the Badger player leadership make the mental connection between winning on Friday with winning a NC? Seems easy enough, but in practice it just isn't very easy. Plus MI ST has lost only 1 of their last six, and a tie could be almost counted a virtual loss for the Badgers. They play extremely tough defensively and every game is likely to be a huge grind.

There are signs they certainly can be prepared... Zengerle played very well this weekend, Mersch had limited success but was a beast... Barnes was coming on... Schulze is really turning into a shut down D-man. But the turnovers and poor decisions creep in... Kerdiles didn't play particularly well either game last week and McCabe has been a slow starter on Fridays, albeit a strong finisher. All the guys need to adopt Matt Paape's attitude every game. Here's a young man who has played a lot of games coming into his Senior season and rather taking the easy road and being disappointed at his lack of PT, when he's been called on, he's answered the bell with everything he's got. Might not be the most talented player, but the guy has really demonstrated his mental toughness in being ready and putting the team first. If that can become even more contagious, Badgers can do a lot of damage.

Of course losses won't mean the sky is falling. Badgers are getting close to locking a tourney berth. And really that's all it takes to have a chance. But the most realistic road all starts with rising to the mental challenge and getting a 60 minute win on Friday.

The offense has to produce the next 6 games. MSU and PSU are grind it out teams and UW will have to power through that. I can see 4-2 with not scoring more than 3 in most games.

I'm going to have to make some time to watch the Sat. game on the dvr in between watching the women's semi's tonight.

The live look-in was cool @ Fill the Bowl Sat. night in between the 1st and 2nd periods.

Still quite a few seats available for Friday night, but Senior Day looks like it'll sell out, which is how it should be.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXIX: Yes, this is the Rumpel Rink!

Why a 4pm start for Saturdays game? It will work out for me (and probably even good so we get home at a decent hour with son's state playoffs starting Sun morning), but that is not a start time I have ever seen before.

Because of ESPN.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXIX: Yes, this is the Rumpel Rink!

Buccigross has been doing the games since then. I don't know if he is doing it this Saturday though.

I don't know what Saturday's broadcast team is, but I remember they announced that John Buccigross would be doing the Michigan-PSU game AFTER the Wisconsin-Minnesota debacle. I don't know if it would have happened anyway, or if it was a response to the backlash. I saw the third period of that game, and it felt like a hockey broadcast.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXIX: Yes, this is the Rumpel Rink!

Clay Matvick and Dave Starman are doing the game for ESPN-U for those who are wondering. Dan Kelly, Ben Clymer and Jay Wilson handling BTN duties on Friday.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXIX: Yes, this is the Rumpel Rink!

I just took some time out of watching curling and Olympic hockey to watch the Sat. game. UW was lucky to escape with a win. I guess that balances out the Sat. home game against OSU.

1 - Wow, was UW's D porous on the OSU line rushes, just awful.
2 - Rumpel was awesome.
3 - Cavalinni is proving he belongs on the ice.
4 - Kerdiles looked a little lazy out there at times, though his empty net shot was awesome.

Awful quiet today on the board.

Lines for the weekend?

Weekend predictions? IMO, has to be 6 points and a sweep.

I have been obsessed with Olympic curling and hockey. I'm still trying to digest what happened yesterday.

I would agree, it has to be a sweep of the light scoring Spartans or that may spell trouble for UW. Any word on the line combos for tonight?

The shots called by Mr. Shuster (U.S.) and Ms. Sigfridsen (SWE) totally mystified me.

If our boys can light the lamp more than twice in 65 (or, more rarely, 60) minutes, our goalie might be able to steal a point. Or 2, or ...
