Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXXII: No Where To Go But Up!

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXXII: No Where To Go But Up!

I just don't understand what this team is doing in the defensive zone. They can't keep up with teams like Minnesota and Michigan in that end because they buzz around and cause havoc and the Wisconsin guys get lost and have major breakdowns. And the Wisconsin players that can skate with these teams aren't strong enough physically to stop anyone. You can't play the system Wisconsin is playing on a big ice sheet with the talent level on this roster. Has to be the poorest defensive team Wisconsin has ever put together in the Mike Eaves era.

Who is the coach today?

(UW did exceed my expectations last night.....after the first period I told my wife ....who I think was asleep.....that Wisconsin would score first in the 2nd period and then Minnesota would rip off 6 unanswered goals and win 7-3)

X2. In that one minute and 41 second stretch of the second period when the gophers scored 4 goals, couldn't tell if the broadcast was live or a replay. Mad scrambles in front of the net.

Hard not to start questioning the recruiting.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXXII: No Where To Go But Up!

Offensively, they played well last night. Defensively, other than 1:40 of time, they didn't play bad. The biggest issue this team has is that they just get overpowered by bigger, stronger, and faster players from teams like Minnesota, Michigan, and North Dakota.

Ryan Wagner has looked like the best freshman forward to me this year. He has played decent all year and great last night. I'm glad he is playing on the top line this weekend.

That issue is addressed in recruiting. Eaves doesn't get a pass for landing players who cannot keep up with the Nodak's, Minnesota's etc.

I agree with you on Wagner

Lucia on the pregame telling Posick "It's kind of like getting a big ship turned around..."

As was illustrated and evident on the goal with 2 seconds to go.

Unreal.

Oh yeah, and Besse is gonna be a BEAST as an upperclassman.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXXII: No Where To Go But Up!

C Reilly is hinted at being out for the year thanks to your boy's cheap dirty hit. Thanks, *ers.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXXII: No Where To Go But Up!

With knee injuries in the past, it's possible it could have an impact on his entire career. So, ya.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXXII: No Where To Go But Up!

Oh, and the guy who SHOULD HAVE BEEN KICKED OUT made the decisive goal in the SO.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXXII: No Where To Go But Up!

Ummm...

There's a series thread.

*****es.

Wanted to make sure every Sconni fan saw that. And I shall now take my leave and respect the rules. Thank you for understanding and patience.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXXII: No Where To Go But Up!

I get being upset, but none of us had anything to do with it and I can't imagine any of us condoning it.

I HATE knee to knee ****.

You're one of the few WI posters I fully respect, even though we've never met personally. I think there are about 3 others I actually know that I also respect: con1977 (retired) and his wife, and Almington (semi-retired).

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXXII: No Where To Go But Up!

I watched earlier this HS season as my kid was a victim of an intentional knee on knee.

I shoot photos for his team(s) and I use a step ladder to get up above the glass in the offensive zone. The hit in question happened literally right below me along the boards.

Was the first period of a JV game and he missed the rest of the night - he plays both JV and varsity games each night.

Luckily, the point of contact was just above the knee or he'd likely be out for the season. Deep bruise and he was back in a few days and didn't miss any more games.

Was a blatant and cheap play by a kid that spent the evening taking runs at our players. No call on the play.

Knee on knee hits are gutless.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXXII: No Where To Go But Up!

Anyone have video of the kneed to knee hit? I was driving.
