Possible new skater on board, Oscar Skiöld. He's enrolled for the spring semester and has asked to get on the ice. 112 pts in 96 games for the Jersey Hitmen. Probably a practice guy one would think.
Bonus points for use of the umlaut, Tim! The NHL and World Juniors have been keeping my fire lit during our hiatus.
I'm looking forward to January; going to the United Center for the Badger - Neutered Dame game on the 21st, and heading to Xcel Energy Center via Rochester to pick up MCR Jr for a Jets - Wild game on the 13th.
Mmmmmmm hockey!
I must give credit to cut and paste for the umlaut, though I was very happy it caught that.
Greenway played in the exhibition last weekend, will he play for real? Maybe at this point a redshirt makes the most sense if he wants to extend his eligibility if what he is going through qualifies for that.

We've got hockey in 2 days and MCR and I are on a two man forecheck here. How about some support? The action in this thread is as dull as the women's thread and there's maybe 2 of us who post over there on a "regular" basis.
Let's go RED!
EDIT:On a very sad note, I just heard on the radio that Ella's Deli in Madison is closing at the end of the month. I usually don't give a rat's *** about eateries in town closing, but this one hurts. I was there when I was a kid; my kids were there when they were kids. We directed visiting youth hockey teams and other organizations there all the time. There is NOBODY in town that can prepare a Rueben, matzo ball soup, bialys, kugel like Ella's can; it always brought back memories of my grandparents. This was truly a fantastic Jewish deli.

You're on your own for a little bit; I just got 5 for fighting.
I figured it would be mid- to late week before it picked up with the holidays falling when they did. I read another story today about Oscar Skiöld, who Tim brought up earlier.

He was third in the USPHL in points last year. Guys above him and below him in points all had scholarships. Places like Northeastern, Arizona State and Army (I know Army technically doesn't give scholarships, but you know what I mean....). It will be interesting to see if he gets added to the roster and if that has any ripple effects on potential incoming recruits.
There have been two stories in a couple of days really talking about Granato's cache as a coach....a player of Oscar Skiöld's caliber coming to UW on his own just trying to walk on due to Granato and the staff's connections as well as the fact that Granato communicated with the Maple Leafs about Greenway's issues and instead of them pulling Greenway out of UW they allowed him to stay and work through whatever was going on.
I'd like to buy it, I've always wanted to be in the restaurant business, but there's no way I'm coming up with 1.2 million. I wonder if their revenue can support the monthly operating costs plus the mortgage. At 1.2 million, I'm doubting it.
Hmmm.... Let's say $1.5m to cover a few updates and some operating capital. That costs about $250/day. No idea what business has been like as of late, but certainly in the past that would have been a pretty easy nut to crack at Ella's. Work like a dog, but be your own boss. Maybe you should buy it!
They always say if you want to make a little money, start a restaurant with a lot of money.
Part of the 1.2 million includes a rental property to go along with the restaurant. It's a bargain at TWICE the price.
