Re: Wisconsin Hockey Recruiting Vol. XXXIV: Go pick me out a winner, Strand

Looks like Cruikshank will be playing with Penticton in the BCHL this year.

Yeah, all the paint thinner we drink really kills the arrogant part of our brains.

Ha! You win more than 15 games this year and you guys will be insufferable. You've already got some of that old pryckishness about you.

I feel a mild hating spell coming on . . .

That, and only winning 5 real games the last 2 seasons.

I can promise that I will be tolerable this season. I'm just anxious to be competitive again. We can't get the good thinner down here in Georgia, so I'm just barely surviving on whatever I can find here.

Sounds like Nyberg is not going to be at UW this fall. He is apparently going to play for the Capitols in the USHL and may be able to enter UW at semester break. Ross Carlson is the only player I ever remember joining UW between semesters...

I'm not sure what the point would be to have him come at semester break. That means he would be gone at semester break his Sr. year, that could be a big mid-season loss. At least he's still on track to get to UW at some point, even if it's the 16-17 season. They need talent coming in.

I don't think that's how it works. I think he uses his full first year of eligibility regardless of when he shows up .

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Recruiting Vol. XXXIV: Go pick me out a winner, Strand

We have ONE right handed defenseman (actual...as in not a recently converted forward) on the roster...if you can get Nyberg in for second semester you do it without even thinking twice about it. The way we have stalked up dmen commits for coming seasons...we need Nyberg on the team ASAP not only from the standpoint of current needs, but also from having RHD percolating through the program ahead of Parsells next year, Emberson/K'Andre Miller in 2018, and Brady Smith the year after.

And yes....coming in at semester would count as a season played and not have Nyberg playing only the front half of a (5th) senior year...rather he could play the next 3 seasons after this one.

If Nyberg makes it in at the semester break and stays to his Senior year ('19/'20 season), that would be Smith's freshman season, Emberson/Miller would be sophs, and Parsells a junior as far as right handed dmen.

Jake Bunz did, though that ended up being his redshirt year.

I call bull**** on that statement. If I can get Spotted Cow down to MCR Jr in Louisville without a hitch, we can get some Menard's Reserve ® down to Georgia.

Of course, I jest. I had someone deliver me 2-12 packs of Fantasy Factory from Karben 4 recently. Debating coming up there at some point this year to catch a game (and bring more beer back.)

Oh, and if you're offering, you can hook me up as well!

I hear the deer run kinda small down there, too.

I see just about as many dead ones on the side of the road, which surprised me a bit.

Kind of strange that it's his English that's holding things up. Most Swedes that you hear interviewed speak excellent English and the "old pros" barely have an accent. I could comment on many of the American athletes that you can't understand, but I'm not going there.

Maybe I can tutor him. I tawk Inglish real good.

It will be nice to see him in January.
