Re: Wisconsin Hockey Part 2 - No Silly Eaves-isms, Just Win The Title!

I told Percy I'd do this...

"Balls on the ground, balls on the ground!" "The Vikings just put, their balls on the ground!"

Who's the guy who always says that Jesus hates Wisconsin? I'm thinking he hates someone else more. :D :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p

Oi, what a relief.

I don't know. There are a lot of Badger fans on the east coast, especially in New York.

No, their would be many more Badger fans at a NCAA regional game in MN than in NY. Based on geography and travel considerations alone it would be the case.

Re: this past weekend... awesomeness. Would've liked one more point Friday night, but eh, I'll take 3 of 4 from the series... especially since it was good hockey overall. Can't let up now though; this has to be the big kick-off to a strong stretch run. I am glad Smith is ok, and it's amazing to me that I'm saying that given how much cringing I did when that kid was on the ice early in his career.

Re: Next weekend. Pumped (even though ticketmaster is a bastard), and hoping to steal some points up in Duluth.

Re: Regionals. Would expect more Badger fans traveling to MN than out east, but I don't think we're going to manage a "home-like" atmosphere in any of the regional options this year. Boys'll have to kick some *** for however many fans they have on hand though.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Part 2 - No Silly Eaves-isms, Just Win The Title!

Definitely would be more Badger fans in St. Paul than in Albany. This isn't New York City we're talking about here, it's Albany.

HAHAHAHA! We finally agree. Cheers, man.

Good thing Geoffrion isn't hurt badly either. He was in a lot of pain on Saturday, but toughed it out and came back. Is he a Hobey candidate?

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Part 2 - No Silly Eaves-isms, Just Win The Title!

What a great weekend of hockey in Madison... I don't remember the last time the Kohl was as loud as it was on Saturday. The guys really showed a lot of character to come back from behind on Friday, and even though DU tied it up in the final minutes, they didn't let it sink their ship and almost managed the win. They rode their intensity all night Saturday, even though the special teams were a little disappointing... Giving up 2 PP goals seemed a bit out of character.

Not sure that I agree with the Overrated chant after the horn, but that's the students being the students. Another quality weekend for sure, it's a shame the full 4 points were just out of reach. Next weekend is going to be a big one, lots at stake in the WCHA standings, I would rather finish 1 or 2 to play the 9 or 10 seed... Avoid that play-in game, etc...

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Part 2 - No Silly Eaves-isms, Just Win The Title!

I was impressed that late in the game, UW's 3rd and 4 th lines owned DU in their own zone. What great depth UW has. My boy Thurber played well, in that I saw (the 1st and 3rd periods.) I guesss he made a bad play in the 2nd according to the radio guys. He crushed a DU guy in the 3rd. Just crushed him. I think he's veritile enough to play physical and finnese. He'll be a great top 2 line center next year.

UW showed a lot of character this weekend. Fell behind Friday and fought back nicely, just like at CC the Sat. before. They could have came out flat after the disappointment of losing the win last night, but they didn't. Last night, got up, lost the lead, but finished the game off strong. UMD is just as loaded as DU, so another great performance will be required. There's no indication that won't happen.

It's great to be in the thick of the race for the McN cup for once, instead of just hoping to hold on to home ice and sneak into the NCAA's. This is what I expect out of the UW program every 4 out of 5 years (I'll allow one rebuilding year out of every 5).

I don't think Duluth is nearly as loaded as DU. What Duluth has is the BEST line in the nation between the Connollys and Fontaine. It would be ideal to put the Geoffrion line out there against them, but w/ out the last change, everyone else needs to step up. Not that any of the lines are defensively poor, but the Geoffrion line is just shut down.

Yes Grotting was horrible on friday, Patrick Johnson was nothing special all weekend either, really hasn't been all season. IMHO Thurber should NEVER sit if Patrick Johnson is on the ice. The Bohmber doesn't get enough shifts, he has played well all season, and I still don't understand how he lost his spot on the top line, especially when he was replaced w/ Mitchell. Jordy Murray is a different story, but Mitchell, when he was playing really bad? The Bohmber does a lot of the hard work on the ice, and should be out there more.

Thurber and Bohmbach, two guys getting Gorowsky'd by Eaves this season.

Great weekend of hockey, and I love when the KC is loud. While "roll out the barrell" didn't end well, I thought that was awesome. Never get enough Zing, Boom, Tararrel.

I know the highest seeds are supposed to be placed closest to home, but anyone else think if a scenory like this happens UW/UND both with a chance to fill some seats at the Xcel the NC$$ might send Denver east since they need to fly anyways? In this case switching the entire brackets in Albany and St Paul the attendance should get increases, likily a large one in St Paul. Hopefully we can move ahead of Denver in the future anyways, jumping past Miami looks much more difficult.

As for the 3rd/4th line guys this weekend, I thought Bendickson had a great game Saturday night, had alot of great work cycling the puck in the zone. Thurber also played very well, I thought Grotting was our worst forward this weekend, but generally am in favor of needing his physical play especially this weekend at the DECC.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Part 2 - No Silly Eaves-isms, Just Win The Title!

This may go as a "Who cares?" question, but did anyone notice that PJ changed from a wire cage to the Lexon type sheild, like Bendi and Bomber?

I agree that Bennett played very well, considering it was his first start in a while. DU was actually better then I expected, it that is possible. We made 8 mistakes on the weekend, and they scored on six of them. Their top line is really talented.

I did notice this and was wondering when he made the switch.

You're like the teflon poster. You take hit after hit and nothing seems to stick.

I give you credit for that.

I don't know which is stronger: my disgust for his narcissism or my admiration for his resiliency against the repeated (and deserved) attacks.

I know polls don't matter but I have to vent something out today directed toward the clowns that vote for the USCHO poll. For UW to only get 3 more 1st place votes then a team you just took 3 of 4 pts from is a little redic specially when the have the same record, and to throw 37 1st place votes to Miami, a team who has lost 3 games against the CHA conference doesn't make much sense either. Obviously DU and UW are getting the shaft. The WCHA has 5 of the top 10 teams and 4 of the top 5, while the CCHA has 2 in the top 10. So what teams out of the top 3 have had a tougher schedule????? Yea sorry to say Miami fans but you are #3 in the country right now.

Having said all of that, I'm glad in a way UW didn't get to #1 this week, hopefully they will be pis*ed off about that this weekend and take it out on UMD.

Yeah North Dakota got 5 goals on Miami and skated to a tie. I'd like our chances against them if we matchup in the post season.

They're probably taking into account that the games were on our ice. Like another poster said, if the games were in Denver, the results may in fact been reversed. Denver is a good match for us and I'd love to see a 7 game series.
