Wisconsin Hockey 25-26 Hastings Year 3 - Turning the Corner?

Entitled would be what they feel they are.

Probably the most arrogant fans we've ever dealt with in our 30++ years of attending Badger sporting events.

I'm sure it trickles down to the players and their NTDP player attitudes.

About to pull trigger on tix for the final game of the year when they come here. Will be at tOSU this coming weekend.

Excited about this team. Hastings is getting his program together.

Gavin Morrissey with two impressive goals this weekend, Dexheimer with a 4 point weekend, production in general coming from all across the lineup, and obviously Hauser did what he did today. This is a very good team, and so much fun to watch. Great day to be a badger with the football win as well. I don't care about football all that much but nice to win regardless.

Was able to watch the whole game last night which hasn’t happened much this year so far - done thoughts:

- Eff Michigan

- Really fun game to watch but playing that pace against a team like Michigan with those weapons is dangerous.

- Great bounce-back from Hauser - he was spectacular at times.

- This power play is as good as I can remember - they move the puck really well and stress the goalie laterally.

- Kienan Draper is a chip off the old block - tough guy but out of control at times. He’s the kind of player you love on your team but opponents consider him a goon.

- Montgomery moves around the ice like it’s effortless and that outrageously long reach is a huge asset - he will be playing in the NHL.

- D-men are way more confident in their own zone when teams go hard on the forecheck - breakout passes look much better than last year without the panic.

- I’ve found a team that I hate more than the Goofs - eff Michigan.

Agree on all of this.

I have to say Michigan has surpassed the rodents as the team I hate the most as well.

And here’s a fun blast from the last of Wisconsin roughing up weasels:

I'd LOVE to know what Hensler said to Schifski on the ice when he had him in the head lock after Horbach got railroaded and then crosschecked down on the ice. Whatever it was, it absolutely set him off into rage.

Good on Hensler for protecting Horbach and stepping up as a blue liner!

Schifski and Draper had zero control. Eff Michigan.

3-1 against the UM's and the loss was easily preventable and a great learning opportunity. I can live with that. I REALLY want to torch tOSU. Beat them down.

Yep. Now can they beat an "inferior" opponent after a huge win?
It definitely won't be a walk in the park. They're well coached, always play hard, and have had our number a little bit the past two seasons. They also had this weekend off, and will certainly be looking for a strong weekend after being swept by Penn State. With that being said I don't know if they're quite as good as last years team, they graduated a lot of their top guys, and have had just a meh start to the season with splits with UConn and Sacred Heart and the aforementioned sweep by Penn State.

This was a good game, and feel like WI prob should have won that considering their roster in 94/95 and it being at Dane County Coliseum in the 95 NCAA tourney. I'm not aware of anything nefarious that led to the Michigan game winner, but I don't hav that knowledge either. Michigan sweep in the tourney woulda been nice! Feel like that was a season that got away from them at the end after going on the run to win the WCHA Tourney.

Up to #7 in the USCHO rankings this week. I can get on board with that
They have a big test to take it to Ohio State this weekend and need hit their stride NOW because road Sparty is after that. There are no breaks in their schedule this year, which I frankly like, as it should keep the boys focused. Beating the teams they are supposed to on paper is non-negotiable this year. Steel sharpens steel.

As far as rankings, Weasels staying at #2 is a joke. Only unforced errors by Bucky saved them on Friday while being arguably outplayed and got taken to the woodshed on Sat with a total loss of composure. Penn State was outplayed at the end too by Sparty. Denver a little too high for my liking as well. There is some clear bias in the polls trying to "will" Michigan and Penn State the top of the rankings because of their flashy CHL/recruiting gets instead of looking at the results as they unfold. Hockey polls tend to be EXTREMELY forgiving to blue chip powers under the guise of "they just need to get it together" or "they'll be right by February". Mindboggling. Thankfully polls mean nothing in the NPI.

Congrats on the win Saturday.

Clearly things got out of hand, and I don't condone my team's behavior. However, my view of Michigan's 2nd waived off goal was that Draper was cross-checked into the goal, which I think is what dad in the stands was reacting to.

My (obviously biased) view was not that Michigan was running Hauser, but that they were getting pushed into the goalie on both the called off goals.

Hopefully the games in Madison will be cleaner. I think both these teams are talented and could make for enjoyable hockey if it doesn't get out of hand.

You're crazy, the first one was a strait up run, Period. The second one i could go either way with goal/no goal. Draper decided to go into the blue paint on his own, which is why I believe it was disallowed. It is not the D man job to make space for him to go there. He is entitled to his position. I thought contact was minimal on the 2nd one, but there was still contact in the privileged area. That play happens many times in every game. I have seen it called both ways. I will give the official credit though, he made the call immediately and with conviction.

I'm not as concerned about the goalie contact as I am about the bush league physicalness of your team in the 3rd period. I do think the refs nailed your guys on most of it, although late in the 3rd period your guy got away with contact to the head on a Badger behind the cage. That Badger player was subsequently crosschecked by another of your players while laying on the ice. It's ok to lose with dignity.

What one is that? Surely you are not talking about the one at 9:31 of this video:

How some people can’t figure out that Draper tripped Hauser is simply embarrassing. The announcers are morons for implying that Hauser flopped or acted. They watched that replay at least five times and couldn’t figure out that Draper’s left skate clips Hauser’s right skate/leg. That duo shouldn’t be allowed to call another hockey game until they figure out the rules.

Schulz didn’t cross check Draper (seriously, the fuck are you looking at? Schulz is never even facing him) into the goaltender. He engaged him physically, which he is allowed to do… then Draper took the stupid route behind Schulz, clearly interferes with Hauser, and Hage shoots the puck in. The right call was made. No goal.

Where have you seen a forward take the leg out from a goaltender and it not be called goaltender interference on a resulting goal?
