Wisconsin Hockey 25-26 Hastings Year 3 - Turning the Corner?

On TV you could read Hastings' lips with multiple F bombs to the PSU staff or directly to Gadowski. Gadowski shrugs and grins like he has no idea what the problem might be. I hope we can get our sh*t together and hand them their *sses the last series of the season.

I've also seen PSU fans saying Badgers skater stuck his skate at the goalie to start the melee. Maybe so, but Badgers play clean against most teams. PSU is very chippy. The PSU fans blamed running the PSU Goalie which is laughable. They got drawn into this crap because the ref's let PSU get away with everything.

Yes! Something changed when Schulz went down
It's the perceived lack of clutch and killer instinct that has completely left this team. To finish chances and score. To be physical but not overly aggressive. All that this team had the first half is now dust in the wind.

They've now lost 5 in a row, to include a couple lackluster performances against AA and Lake St where they escaped with wins. They have not played solid hockey since 1st week of December.

10 seconds left, Badgers are still playing hard and they go to the goalie who's stopped it and someone gets cross checked by PSU player, starting maylee. The Penn State players ejected and misconducts act like a bunch of children leaving the ice. Just classless like their coach.

Then at the final whistle, we are killing time and someone got tripped by PSU player (I didn't see this, but read it). I then saw Hastings immediately went the other way with the coaches. I was there and can't argue that was the proper message sent to their staff. Then I saw replays with Hastings wording some F bombs at their coaches.

F Gadowsky and Penn State. I hope that team just falls on their face. I hope MSU buries them next weekend.
Thanks! I saw on fb some of the scrum at the end with PSU players banging the glass at badger fans and pointing to the scoreboard.

I absolutely despise Ped State. Gadowsky is a classless pos and his team is also classless.

If Wisconsin has Brink, Morrisey and Zelenov back they’ll bury these pricks in happy valley.

But the cheap shots from PSU wouldn’t happen if UW had a McDonagh or Burish out there because those guys would lay down the law.

Is brink injured? I thought they were healthy scratching him

This Week: at Minnesota Fri 1/30 7 pm, Sat 1/31 6 pm
Next Week: vs Notre Dame Fri 2/06 7 pm, Sat 2/07 7 pm

Some very concerning stats:
  1. Save % now below .900 for the first time this year. Goalie play has really been pretty bad the since the new year. Hauser played pretty great Saturday however.
  2. Penalty minutes per game in the bottom 7 (note 5 of the worst 7 teams for penalty minutes are BIG7 with Notre Dame, Michigan, Michigan State and Penn State all below us);
  3. Shorthanded goals allowed (1 each the last two weekends).
  4. Up 2-0 Friday, before giving up 7 unanswered. Up 1-0 Saturday before giving up 3 unanswered (1 ENG).
Really need to clean these up and make hay the next three weekends with @Goofers, vs Notre Dame and @OSU all below us in the standings. Let the top teams destroy each other. Can they get out of this funk without Morrissey, Zelenov, Shultz and to a lesser extent Fink? I don't know.

I think these injuries are too much to overcome at this point. Surely they know how long Zelenov, Morrissey and Brink are going to be out for.
I respectfully disagree. From everything I've seen Morrissey is still day to day, and should be back relatively soon. I don't think the impact of getting him back can be understated. There is a strong case to be made that he is the teams best player this year - he still leads team in points at an incredibly important position, plays on both pp and pk, and is the best on the team at faceoffs. He is the one hurt player who, in my opinion, is truly irreplaceable.

Granted they still have to turn it around and do better as a team - getting Gavin back won't magically solve everything. But I think it puts them in a much better spot then where they're at currently.

The penultimate test for a team with a weak psyche or that has had a noticeable dip is who stands up and executes as a leader? Who is clutch? That is what will determine the fate.

Beat MN, Ohio St and ND...you're in business. Fold and it is over.

My point was as long as they are out, there's going to be issues. Morrissey has been day to day for 2 weeks. They were going to have more info on Zelenov, then no more info comes out. Hastings is playing games with the injury report, it's what they do. They should be easier to deal with against the next 3 opponents. They really need to go 5-1 minimum in the next 6.

I really like Hasting’s comments and attitude in the presser.

He also said 3 of the injured players are skating, must be Brink, Morrisey and Zelenov. Hopefully that means they can play this weekend. That would be a tremendous boost to the team.
