Wisconsin Hockey 22-23 Empty Dreams & Empty Seats

Hard to believe they could dominate the better part of two periods last night and be down 0-3 and outshooting the goofers 30-10. Zone time in first has to be 90% to 10%. But it went as expected. I’m at it again going tonight. This season can’t get over soon enough.

Didn’t watch a minute of it, but great for the boys.

They outplayed the #1 team in the country virtually all weekend. Any semblance of scoring touch and goaltending on Friday and we are talking about a miracle sweep.

Minnesota's play was shocking. It was almost like they didn't care and thought they could coast by on their talent.

And we got completely screwed out of that 1 goal as well. I don't understand how you wave off that Minnesota goal for to make men on the ice but you don't call penalty on it. System confused.

So, not having BTN+, the Saturday game was one of the few I've been able to watch this year (this year seems to have had even fewer games on BTN than past years). I always cringe when we are assigned Clymer to call the games - which is pretty often since our games that are televised tend to be vs Sota. Clymer just doesn't seem very good to me, and doesn't seem to be as objective as the other guys they've had. Caponigri wasn't very good when he started with BTN; but, I really like him in the studio now, and others they've tried have started a bit clunky but really improved. I just don't see that much improvement over the years with Clymer, other than he's only slightly a homer now vs a complete homer when he started. He's definitely the weakest guy they have calling games - in pretty much any sport they televise (the wrestling and volleyball guys/gals are all pretty good).

I can imagine as a badger fan having him call the game must be rough. The problem is he's done a lot of Gopher games on Bally's/FSN where the broadcast is directly for the Gophers as well as occasionally the Wild. He hasn't been able to separate between the two well enough in my opinion. Even if he was able to, he's not one of the stronger commentators we've had over the years either. I liked what they had done in years past grabbing one commentator from each team when you have rivalry weekends. I thought it gave good perspective on each team and you could actually learn something about the other team.

It will be interesting to see what TG the goalie guru does with goaltending going forward. Moe has been the guy but Mac played really well the last game. I'd still run with Moe.

Does it matter? I think Moe has kept them in games all year. He definitely was off Friday and I don't fault him at all for having an off night. Then Saturday, instead of going back to Moe he goes with McClellan. So Moe had no chance at redemption against his former team. To McClellan's credit, he looked good.

No it does not matter at all, I'm just pointing another feather in his cap of of his poor handling of goaltenders. He should do the exact opposite of what his gut tells him, ala George Costanza. But even then he's screw that up too.

At this point, just get through the next 6 games and get the season over with.

Well, I said I would not attend a game while TG was the coach, but my Daughter for her birthday wanted to see a men's game, so we are going tonight. It's actually a hockey palooza weekend as we are staying in Madison at a hotel and also attending the women's games, which we would do anyway, but with the hour drive to and from our home. It would be nice if they won for her.

The Badgers are down 3-0 after 1 despite spending 7+ minutes in the period on the power play. I guess they felt that the win last weekend was enough to carry them to the end of the season. This is not a well coached team, but I'm not sure there's a lot of talent here either. Passing is bad, and when a pass is made it doesn't stay on the stick. There is very little creativity on offense. Maybe they've given up, I don't know. This is one of the worst NCAA D1 teams I've ever seen. Listening to the radio while watching. Very little criticism of the play by Posick and Perrin.
