Re: WISCONSIN HOCKEY 09-10 - Climbing The Mountain (7th Edition?)

I think Goody deserves a shot at playing both nights.

Not that anybody cares, but we dropped 2 spots in the PWR this week, and UND dropped down to 13 after getting swept by the better Pioneers. Denver is going to be a tough beat when we play them.

Maybe, I just don't know its this weekend though. These are 2 big games for this team this weekend, both in regards to PWR, its never too early to worry about that and just for confidence. I think 2 good wins this weekend will go a long way as far as confidence goes. will put us at 4-0-0 in non conference with just the showdown left, but you are right, sooner or later both goalies have to go back to back nights so we can find out who will be our starter down the stretch and who can handle the load...

Starting Lineups =/- on the season... Whats up with Grotting being the only forward with a - rating??? Goloubef and McDonagh are beasts...

Bohmbach(+7) Geoffrion(+2) C. Smith(+8)
Lee(+2) Street (+4) Grotting (-5)
Murray (+3) Stepan (+1) Davies (+2)
Mitchell (+4) Bendickson (+9) P. johnson (+5)

Gardiner (+5) McDonagh (+11)
Goloubef (+9) Schultz (-3)
B. Smith (+1) Ramage (+5)

Not sure why Grotting is minus 5, but the plus minus is kind of fluky so who knows. One thing it does show is that Aaron Bendickson has been nothing short of spectacular and would probably be a #1 center on half the teams in the nation. The guy is an energizer who can really create with the puck with his good speed. It's nice to roll a guy like that onto the ice on the 4th line.

My first thought was because he plays on the PK a lot but then i remembered so does Bohmbach and Geoffrion and they are still + also our PK has been nothing short of awesome so far this year so I really can't figure out why he is a -5 but I have not been impressed with his play sense the minnesota series so he needs to step it up. He has been playing with a lot of different lines thru the course of the games, kinda bouncing around so that may have something to do with his recent play. But to be the only forward at minus tells me it is probably a little bit of bad luck more then anything else, but he does need to make more of an offensive contribution coming up here.

I think every badger fan is happy for bendickson, he has played so hard in recent years and is finally getting rewarded for it and getting some praise. He is a badger...

Little late, but good series last weekend. I really thought we'd get 3 points this past weekend. See you guys in Feb, and I'm hoping to make my first trip to Kohl then.

I was not surprised to see Brendan Smith so low.

Re: WISCONSIN HOCKEY 09-10 - Climbing The Mountain (7th Edition?)

Bohmbach at +7 is a true sentiment to the value that he provides. He doesn't score many points, but he does the dirty work on the forecheck that makes a positive impact on the front line. It also helps when Smith and Geoffrion are on his line as well.

During the Minnesota and UAA series he was out there for 8 out of the 10 goals scored against.. Of the 7 Gopher goals he was out there for 6 of them. That's a little disturbing.

Re: WISCONSIN HOCKEY 09-10 - Climbing The Mountain (7th Edition?)

I hope he figures things out because we are going to need Smith next year when McDonaugh and possibly Goulabef/Gardiner are gone to the NHL. He generally plays pretty well 80% of the time, but the other 20% he makes a stupid pass or takes unnecessary risks. He can put the puck in the net, though.

Sounds like he needs more ice time to get this figured out.
Perhaps during the UND/UW series? ;) :)

Re: WISCONSIN HOCKEY 09-10 - Climbing The Mountain (7th Edition?)

And hopefully he plays like he did last year against UND. He had 3 points in 5 games.

I would put money on Smith leaving as well...maybe into a forward role?
