Wisconsin Badgers host the Denver Pioneers (11/20 & 11/21)

Re: Wisconsin Badgers host the Denver Pioneers (11/20 & 11/21)

Of course they do. They're a top ten team. But what you didn't know is that I have just hacked this video footage from DU of Pio Forward and Wisconsin native Evan Janssen https://www.facebook.com/DenverHockey/videos/974622432576276/.

And in it he reveals THE ENTIRE DU GAMEPLAN!!!

I don't care if this isn't fair. We need wins and I'm getting it to Eaves asap.

btw- In it, he inadvertently lets slip that DU plans to both "get pucks to the net" AND "win one on one battles." Ha! Good luck with that now, Pio's!

:)

Re: Wisconsin Badgers host the Denver Pioneers (11/20 & 11/21)

Thoughts on a game played on earth...first period was a snoozer. I'm not sure why Tischke was at the top of circle on the same side as his partner on goal #1. I wish Jurusik would have stayed up on that one or did the classic poke check. Great to see guys have the ability to convert on great chances in the 2nd period. Du's second goal was a carbon copy of Frytag's, not sire what Jurusik could have done on that one, it looked like on the replay it hit him in the shoulder, glance off him and in. The 3rd DU goal you just can't let the guy walk in from the boards and Jurusik ended up down and it slid under him, maybe the poke check would have worked there too, or stay up and let him make the first move. He did have a bacon saver in OT and he won the S/O, so good for him. He really wasn't tested very much, neither team made the opposing goalie make a big save, aside from the bacon saver Jurusik made.

Sexton had the best hit I've seen in years form a UW player, he blew that guy up. I have seen that same type of hit where you extend the forearm and push through draw the wrath of the officials, but they did not call it obviously. If they would have I would not have disputed it, but I'd give Sexton credit for playing a physical brand of hockey. There was another great hit along the boards by UW but I did not catch the number of the hitter. This team as an edge that I like.

Tischke made a great play where the DU guy had a partial break and he jetted from no where and broke it up, I liked the speed he showed there. He also had a good hit in the game as well.

The D were sloppy at times on the breakout, though I do love the up the middle breakout then they get that going.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers host the Denver Pioneers (11/20 & 11/21)

I thought it was interesting that Adam Miller didn't dress and Grunwald was the back up. I also wonder what's up with Jason Ford? He was making some real progress earlier in the season and I thought we'd probably see him in the line up.

Freytag and Kunin's goals were both beautiful plays by the set up men and they have the chops to finish. Jed just keeps shooting, and what do you know? He gets one to go in. I was a little surprised to see DU pull their goalie, as I'm not sure he ever saw the puck on Soleway's goal. But I suppose it was as much a wake up as anything. He had no chance on the other two.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers host the Denver Pioneers (11/20 & 11/21)

Even ignoring the first 10min. of the nightmarish 2nd period,it was not DU's best game by far. Coming back from 3-1 deficit in a 99 second span was pretty amazing. Pios did have trouble with Eaves' neutral zone clog strategy. Broke up DU's transition. Surprised since he has been doing that same system for years.
Looking for more energy tonight from the Pios.

Probably not the Badgers best either. I'd say both teams had their moments. Anxious to see what happens tonight.

Ustaski in and Cavallini out on the 4th, otherwise Badgers going with the same line up.

Made it to the game with my daughters tonight. So many empty seats. Still, they are giddy to be here.

When I started this thread I knew it was a bad idea. In fact, I was told privately that it would NEVER make it past the first page. Since it's now heading to page 4, I'd like to thank all those who participated including both DU's remaining fans, vizaroo and DU78, who's inspirational posts no doubt enhanced the quality of life for all Badger's and Pio's alike.

Also, special thanks to Wisko, Wisko, Wisko, Tim, UCBadger, Wisko, UCBadger, Wisko and Wisko.

Congrats to the Pio's. Hope we make the trip west to Magness where the air is thin, dope is legal, and Bucky has a better record again soon.
