Wisconsin Badgers '26-'27 season: Finishing what we started

Looks like he got it too. Always thought he was a pretty good coach at NoDak. Solid hire for ASU.
It will be very interesting to see how much success he has at ASU. Hakstol is a great coach, or at least he was at UND but I can’t help but think of Dean Blaise who was also a great coach at UND, stepped away for NHL and came back to coach Omaha and was not nearly as successful as he had been previously.

I don't want to get ahead of myself, but the big ten might be a little easier this year.

Penn State - lost 5-2 tonight against Robert Morris at home to fall to 0-4
Notre Dame - IMO hasn't shown anything to suggest they're a different team from the last few years
Ohio State - 2-2 exclusively against Atlantic Hockey teams (although they still have our number to be fair)
Minnesota - I'll begrudgingly admit that their roster is very talented, but winless so far and may possibly have goalie problems

Maybe things change, but seems so far like the bottom of the conference has regressed a little from last year. On the flip side, the Michigan schools seem as good as ever.

As of the first few weeks, this is mostly true. The frustrating part is that the NPI obviously rewards strong wins, so you want other teams in your conference to win their non-conference games and strengthen the conference as a whole, especially since you'll play so many of those teams throughout the season. So, the fact that these four teams are a combined 4-11-1 in non-conference play is encouraging for Bucky's chances in the Big Ten. However, it would be nice if those numbers weren't so ugly, because when Bucky beats these teams, we want to be rewarded in the NPI. Instead, if this trend continues, we'll likely gain little from those wins while being punished more if we lose.

Michigan looks scary good. Swept Denver in Denver. However, we’ll see how they fair vs MSU and Wisconsin who are capable of stopping their run n’ gun.

Is anyone else listening to the Varsity stream of the Western game? Posick sounds like a munchkin, and the audio just stops for a couple of seconds.

Exhibition in name only.

Wisconsin played a solid game and beat a VERY good Western Michigan team.

And now having a common reference point to Michigan who won 3-2 in Ann Arbor vs WMU, I think Wisconsin is much better than prognosticators thought.

And man…the freshman continue to impress early.

Hindsight is 20/20, but it is pretty annoying that this was an exhibition game. I heard it had something to do with only being able to schedule 34 games…

That Michigan-Western Michigan game was crazy…. Michigan scored with 0.1 seconds left in the 3rd to take the lead; shades of the Michigan-Western Michigan football game.

Our standout star players are on defense, but man it feels good to be able to roll four good forward lines and get contributions from everyone. Solomon is my favorite freshman! He looks so good.

On the opposite side, Wild prospect Adam Benák had been on a tear prior to this weekend. He had 1 shot and was -2. Nicely done by the lads. :)

They have had issues in the past also. Now I just go to the website of the stations to listen live. Sometimes they will show something else is on the air, but hit the play button and the game is on, 1310 for the men and 1070 for the women. Haven't had issues that way.

Yes! Pre-season I thought UW would get contributions from frosh but it would take a while for them to acclimate. Solomon and Jette have really surprised me.

On another note….The one guy who I think is ready to explode offensively is Wiebusch. He seems to always be at or near the net and just a tic away from potting goals. I think his time is coming soon.

Worth noting WMU did play their backup goalie. Regardless, I heard a lot about how good WMU's d core was from Schlossman and Mike McMahon through their media, and while they're clearly pretty good, Badgers d seemed a bit better last night. Palodichuk is absolutely one of the best defensemen in the country, even if the name recognition isn't there nationally. Phelan has taken enormous strides and is now a workhorse back there. Osburn and Hensler are probably both future NHLers, at least in some capacity. And Schulz/Compton/Knox/Stout round up the group very very nicely.

I can't even really describe how excited I am for the rest of the season, and we've got a nice stretch of games coming up - ND series, gopher series, Ohio & Penn st series as well. Hopefully they can keep it rolling
