Wisconsin Badgers '26-'27 season: Finishing what we started

Huge series this weekend.

Mankato has a very deep forward group and got a great replacement for Alex Tracy with Lassi Lehti from Alaska Fairbanks. Another big goalie like RMU’s Schenkel this past weekend. However, they probably did get a little worse on the blueline between losing Murr to the gophers and graduating a few others.

I think getting the first line rolling a bit will be necessary for a good outcome this weekend. They were a little invisible at times against RMU

Definitely, First line looked good overall, but it was really the Idzan - Zelenov - Tulk line that stood out the most. I want to see Wiebusch shoot the puck more for sure, I think there were times in the RMU game when Bucky's forecheck was so good that they had more time/space than they knew what to do with.

Attended last night and sat on the glass in the Badgers' offensive zone for the first and third periods. Was really impressed with their effort for 60 minutes, and the resulting level of domination. Ice was tilted in our direction all night.

Watching Bucky maintain the zone for long stretches plus simply not letting the Mavs have any space in the neutral zone...was like watching a boa constrictor squeeze the life our if its prey.

Figure the D would be good, but they were calm, steady, and making the right play at a level not expected on the second weekend.

Not going to be a team that blows you away with five pretty goals every night, but you better be ready to work against this bunch and this should be the best overall blue line group since 2006.

Depth is also going to be a team strength. Lots of guys who are really good even if we don't have an offensive superstar.

Won't make it back down tonight but will listen in and hope for the sweep.

another great game!

Mankato is a solid top-20 and potential NCAA tourney team, and to see Wisconsin handle them the way they did through two games is quite impressive.

Two freshman scored tonight and Zelinov and Brink who are two of my fav players on the team.

I’ve said it before, I think Finn Brink is the new Ross Carlson!

The defense is pretty incredible. Maybe better than the Smith, Goloubef, Ramage group!

13 goals by 11 different players is pretty damn good
Last week I commented with concern about finishing scoring opportunities. Among other things, they did a much better job converting chances into goals - more goals on fewer chances compared to last weekend. I thought Wiebusch played better last night despite still being goalless. Wooten, Solomon, and Jette all looked solid too.

I will say it kind of stinks to have to wait 2 weeks for the WMU exhibition and 3 weeks for the Notre Dame series.

Big pickup for you guys. 2010 forward Aiden Kelly has committed for 2009/2010 season. From Oakland Townshi Michigan playing in the OHL this year, congrats.

Saying a lot up there with 2006 on the back end. If you are right we contend against the best this season. Go Bucky.
