Wisconsin Badgers '26-'27 season: Finishing what we started

Listened to an interview with Hastings and he said he was pursuing Pavelski for quite some time and then the NCAA loosened up the rules for coaches so he was able to get him on board. It also sounds like Burish is around the program quite a bit.
 
Saw a few clips of Mike Hastings talking with a Brian Butch but I can’t find the whole interview. The parts I saw were super fun!!

Great longer form interview from Coach Hastings. Wish Butchie would have asked a couple questions on the new guys coming in, especially how well Badgers did in the portal, and how that effects the guys coming back and the tough conversations with guys who may be on the outside looking in. Also wish he would have asked about the Director of Player/Goalie Development positions, the encumbants, and what their day to day duties entail.

But anywho, can't wait for the season to start!
 
Just picked up two tickets to go to the Friday game with Bob Morris. My daughter and I are doing the double with the ladies earlier in the day. Let's go Red!
 
It will be really interesting to see how the goaltenders shake out this year, especially with the addition of Briere. Cournoyer appears to be elite; we'll see how he adjusts to the BIG7 caliber of play. And Hauser is obviously elite in his own right, doing what we did last year while battling a shoulder injury. Historically, Hastings has favored taller goaltenders, but Hauser's agility and positioning make him hard to beat. I'm sure we'll see a somewhat healthy split, at least to start the season. Regardless, the goaltender room is much improved from the past two years, and I am excited to see how it plays out. I really think the D core took a huge step, which will help the goaltenders' cause. Guys like Knox and Phelan, who were relied on a lot last year, will likely be back to a smaller role.

D may look something like this

Palodichuk - Hensler
Osburn - Compton
Schulz - Phelan / Stout
Phelan / Stout - Knox
 
Very exciting and big weekend ahead with men’s/women’s home series and MSU football game.

Ahead of the men’s opener, I’m most curious who plays first line LW alongside what I’m pretty sure will be Morrissey and Wiebusch at C and RW respectively. Could be Botterill if coaches are looking for responsibility and a high floor type player. Could be Idzan if he’s ready for bigger minutes and the staff wants the offensive upside. Could also be a new frosh (Solomon or Wooten possibly) or someone else entirely

I'd guess it's Wooten or Botterill. There's so much depth at center; Tulk played RW for a couple of games last season, but I think he's best suited at Center. It wouldn't make sense to have Deering playing fourth-line minutes, seeing as he really stepped up last year, so definitely some mixing and matching with the lines. Could be anything but here's a guess.

Wooten / Botterill - Morrissey - Wiebusch
Botterill / Wooten - Tulk - Solomon
Idzan - Zelenov - Pietila
Orpana - Deering - Brink

Extras: Uhlenkamp, Jette, Blanck
