Wisconsin Badgers 2020-2021

SCSU keeping close in the 3rd...Only gving up 3 so far with about half the period to go. 9-0

Oppps make it double digits...Seeing eye dog goal on the PP makes it 10-0. Laughable how bad SCSU's play has become. They have given up 10 goals on 42 shots...

Goes final...10 zip. 49 shots on goal.

Last weekend St Cloud and Bemidji went to a shoot-out, but the refs screwed it up and stopped it after only two rounds. So afterward they decided to split the 3rd standings point between the two teams, St Cloud now has 1.5 standings point and Bemidji has 6.5 points.
So the league steps in and makes it even less fair. One team has a 1-0 edge in a shootout with only one round to go. I bet that statistically, such a team has gone on to win a very large percentage of the time in women's NCAA, but the league makes a decision that assumes that the trailing team would have scored in round three while holding the other team scoreless. How is that an improvement?

They apparently thought it was sudden death, not three rounds. Nobody scored first round, one team had a 1-0 lead after the second round. But yes, how could the coaches not manage to correct the mistake.
I'm not sure how the coaches are even supposed to know what the rule is. Last year when the Badgers tied the Gophers in Minneapolis, the two teams played scoreless OTs both 5-on-5 and 3-on-3. When Amy Potomak scored in round two of the S.O., they decided that was enough with UM up 1-0. So if now the rule is different because the 5-on-5 portion is gone, I wonder how many people around the WCHA even knew it had been changed.

Double hatties and 2 scoops of ice cream! YYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!

Great to see the top line all juiced up, they need to produce in the big moments and this is a great confidence booster, as if last weekend wasn't enough.

No let down today. Run them back into the dog house.

Not happening so far today...Cloudytown leads 2-1 with about 7 and a half minutes to go in the 2nd period.

Late in the 2nd Wisconsin scores to tie it. Nice goal by Shirley.

End of the second period...2-2.

I was surprised yesterday when Polusny didn't get the start. She's plenty good enough to 'steal' one. I'm listening to St Cloud student radio, and they have UW with at least two shots hitting the pipes.

As every hockey announcer will say, one way or another, no matter the score: The next goal is HUGE!!

Adding:
The St Cloud radio guy late in the period said "I think we'll only see top two lines from here on in", and i thought "No, UW would have no problem sending the third line out in this situation". And third line gets the game winner.

Gotta feel for St Cloud playing that well, only to get beat so late in the third, only 1:17 remain.

Ugly turnover behind the Huskies net results in the winning Badger goal. Empty netter makes it 4-2 Wisconsin.

You and I must be some of the very few that have a Flohockey subscription on this board. SCSU played much better in this game so good on them to show up after getting shelled last night but ultimately Wisconsin's depth and speed made the difference today. Thought it might get to overtime but I think SCSU would have had trouble with that.

But even just going to OT would have cost Wisconsin a 'standings point' and reduced their 'percentage' of points won. A 3-vs-3 win gets a team two points, not three (and a 3-vs-3 loss gets you one point.)

It's actually great to hear St. Cloud had a better game yesterday, but that game had the same kind of nerves that a person would have who lived in a mobile home during a tornado warning. Luckily it missed us. A loss yesterday would have been a really big bummer says Capt. Obvious. Every game is a building block to the end of the year tournament so to play another tight game helps towards that.

The last thing this niche sport needs is games essentially going to running time.

Right, but I do love to watch a good old fashioned whooping from time to time @ Labahn and I think 2000+ agree with me.

In fact, if UW won all their games by double digits I think all the press and notoriety they would get would help the sport.

How'd that go for the Maroon and Gold with their lengthy run on being undefeated and having a 41-0 season sandwiched in between? Did that get all that much press and noteriety? Did that really help the sport?

On the flip side, how about the women's olympic hockey with Canada and USA battling for a gold medal? That was ultra competitive and that very good to get eyes on women's hockey that normally wouldn't watch...But not if the USA just steamrolled everyone or Canada did the same.

I seem to have no memory of this undefeated season you mentioned. Did they win all the games by double digits? THAT will get you some women's college hockey press.

The Olympics are a totally different situation.

With all the thinner you consume it's a wonder you even remember what day it is...

I don't know, did they? Maybe there's something on the interwebs that could give you that kind of information...

Yeah so the "17" could read up on that, eh?

The Olympics are a totally different situation.

In that it's women playing hockey that are playing or have played college hockey, now playing for their country every couple of years?

Happy Wednesday!

Certainly a rodentette superfan like yourself knows the average margin of V for that season. I know at least 4 games that weren't won by double digit.

You don't have to be a superfan; you just have to be able to read. You can read, right??? Anyway, the answer is 4.39, so not double digits, with only one win by double digits, and three OT wins.

Interestingly, UW isn't even tops this season in scoring margin, as the Q holds that honor. That said, I'll let you get back to sleep and your dreams of world domination.

No, you have to want to soil your eyes looking at the stats of the greatest season of all time by any team and that team happens to be your arch enemy. Gross, not gonna happen. I'll let the rodentette superfans keep filling me in. Someone's gotta keep the traffic up in the Women's forum besides the PSU fans.

I was under no illusions that UW lead the country in scoring margin all because the huskyettes decided to take one game off.

There is a great article on Madison.com about Eden's journey to UW. It certainly was not a case of raiding the transfer portal.
