Wisconsin Badgers 2018-2019

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2018-2019

Must have been a tense party, then you broke out the dew and candy and all heck broke lose.

The house is trashed (backyard included), girls were up way past bedtimes, I stress-ate too many rice krispie bars during the first and second periods, but we couldn't be happier. Great game, solid watch party.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2018-2019

Congrats to Wisconsin on a well deserved win.

Better team (by a wide margin) won. Congrats and good luck on Sunday.

Thanks. It was a nail biter until goal 3. All it takes is one goal in a 2 goal game and things can flip pretty quickly. I will say that I am more than happy to get over the hump in the tourney against Clarkson, though nothing will erase the pain of 2017 being there in person to lose with that that roster.

The guys on the Badger radio broadcast said there were NINE players from the 2017 Badger team in the stands tonight for the game! With many still on the team and playing, nine has to be just about all there is.

It just makes me sick to think of that game. Happy thoughts now. :)

Great to see Cogan playing regularly tonight, she was impressive, that line was great, so was Roque's. Too bad Curl didn't score on that awesome chance early in the first. Shirley took a page out of Roque's underclassman book and had a couple knockdown's that did not get called, it's like she was like, "OK now is the time to let it all out". The penalty of Norby was complete BS. The Pankowski drive to the net goal was just world class. Soup is locked in. There was a play in the 2nd period where one of Clarkson's big guns was one on one in the UW zone, she and the defender just kinda stopped and engaged, the UW player rag-dolled her to the ice. That sums up the game really.

I didn’t see that type of win coming, but in retrospect I probably should of.. The Frozen Four set-up bodes well for redemption .. first Clarkson and now ... you couldn’t ask for a better scenario ... What’s the rice krispy treat status for Sunday?

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2018-2019

Great win for BUCKY yesterday. 1st time a team has held Clarkson scoreless all season, only allowing Clarkson 3-shots on goal in 8-minutes of their power play. Wow! Wisconsin has always had an impressive offense but this year's defense is SO strong. Stay out of the penalty box tomorrow agains the gophers and bring home that NCAA trophy!!!

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2018-2019

Bucky cannot afford to take as many penalties as they did last night in the Championship game.

That will be a major factor in deciding the game.

A lot's going to depend upon which referees show up. The ones in the Minnesota/Cornell game didn't call all sorts of pretty obvious penalties. The ones in the Wisconsin/Clarkson game called several penalties that didn't actually happen.

Several? So were all five penalties not correct?

Keenan penalty was checking...
Steffen penalty for holding? that one I could give you.
Norby's penalty was hooking. The replay showed that except for those wearing rose tinted glasses.
Clark's penalty was a no doubt about it...
Mauermann penalty was also a no doubt about it...

I agree that Steffen wasn't a penalty; she didn't do what the ref accused her of doing, as her hands were on her stick the whole time and she kept that stick down. But the play where Shirley flattened someone was a pretty obvious call that the refs swallowed. About as obvious as the trip A. Potomak committed early in the third that went uncalled for some reason in game one, which I thought was the most egregious non-call in that game. Well, except it would be nice if someone could figure out that a net is supposed to be somewhere close to its pegs. :D

I'd be surprised if Katie Guay is not one of the refs.

She and Kelly Cooke did the Badger game against Syracuse last Saturday. The consensus seemed to be they had a good first period, and then let too much stuff slide. I guess if we get them, we could do worse...

Today's the day! My watch party is smaller - it's spring break for the Madison schools - but we are ready!! LET'S GO RED!!

Whatever you did this weekend, take notes and do it the same next year, not that I believe in omens and luck and all that.

Thanks to the amazing team and the Sr's who were just clutch. I recall Shaver saying at the end of that year about the way it ended..."That's not going to happen again". She as right! It really took a lot of selflessness for players like her, Norby and Rowe who moved down the lineup after being top end players the year before and allow Clark & Pankowski to get back into the lead role and see Curl and Shirley also way up the lineup ahead of them. Ultimate team players.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2018-2019

I live local and stopped by the championship game. Great effort by Wisconsin from start to finish. The goalie certainly deserved the shut out, and the entire defensive team performance was very impressive. Congratulations!

It just makes me sick to think of that [Clarkson] game. Happy thoughts now. :)

I started to type this yesterday, and then stopped.

There's a guy who comes to the UW women's games often wearing a "1... 2... 3... 4... We Want More" sweatshirt, referring to the four national championships. Outside the arena two years ago in St Charles, I saw him and said "Hey, you're gonna need to get a new sweatshirt after today", thereby *totally* jinxing the game.

Now I can say it again: he's gonna need to get a new sweatshirt! :-)

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2018-2019

That was an outstanding game. Needless to say, I'm pretty thrilled about the result!!! On, Wisconsin!!!
