Wisconsin Badgers 2016-2017

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2016-2017

Fantastic results against a kinda top 10 team. UW dominated both games territorialy. I think OSU had better offensive spurts than BSU. Awesome to see Mauermann break out this weekend with 3 goals and it was great to see Roque wake up a bit with a 4 pt game today. Mauermann's, Roque's and Nurse's first goals were absolute snipes. Clark did not score, but she was UW's most dominant player. She was on the puck like she was glued to it. Honestly you really couldn't tell Pankowski and Cogan were missing. PP was 20% this weekend. :).

Fantastic to erase Raty from the record book with ARD now holding the ncaa record for career shutouts. I hope she can get to 60 shut outs by the end of the season.

Back to Mauermann...she needs to play on a regular shift. She is fast, aggressive and has the ability to score. It's a little sad she's stuck on the 4th line, which means she hardly plays when all the F's are there. She sure proved she's worthy of playing a regular shift with talented linemates. I think sticking her with Pankowski and Clark would be interesting and move Cogan down to the 4th line. I can easily see Clark setting up Pankowski and Mauermann. Clark's and Pankowski's production is down and Mauemann might be the spark to get them going. I don't think you want to mess with the 2nd and 3rd lines.

A week off this upcoming weekend. Hopefully Cogan can get healthy and Pankowski got her scoring juju back from being with team USA.

Fantastic to erase Raty from the record book with ARD now holding the ncaa record for career shutouts.
Erase might be an overstatement; good luck with these two:
Goalie Winning Percentage
Season
1.000--Noora Räty, Minnesota, 2013 (38-0)
Career (minimum 30 wins)
*.897--Amanda Leveille, Minnesota, 20136-2016 (98-9-5)

*Ties computed as half win, half loss.

Goalie Wins

Career
114--Noora Räty, Minnesota, 2010-2013

Yeah, of course you got me on those. All I can say is Cece will beat those records and when ARD wins the PK, those records won't be quite so bitter for me to deal with.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2016-2017

The coaches will certainly have some tough decisions to make as to how the lines will be put together leading into the Duluth series. They do have 2 weeks to figure it out though. Despite not having Cogan and Pankowski the team didn't miss a beat over the last four games as they outscored the opponent 17-1 with three shutouts. There were also 5 players with multiple goals over that stretch ( Nurse, Norby, Mauermann, Wellhausen, and Gardner). All three lines were contributors at certain times either last week or this weekend. The depth on this team is crazy good and Bemidji couldn't do a thing against any of the three lines. The Shaver, Roque, Mauermann line was really good yesterday as they carried the offense. (Roque, Mauermann 2 goals each) But the McKibbon, Nurse, Norby line was hot the day before with Norby getting 2 goals. Last weekend on Saturday the Clark, Wellhausen, Johnson line carried the offense as well with Wellhausen scoring twice. It will be up to the coaches to figure out everything moving forward but, it has been a while since a Badger team has had this much balanced depth up front! On defense they are just really, really good! Don't give up much at all!

UW lands a player from out east per Twitter...Casey O'Brien (Mass. Spitfires) commits to University of Wisconsin for 2020-2021

I love that MJ recruits a player here and there from the east coast, pulling them out from under the noses of the likes of BC and Hawvawd. Typically the eastern players he lands are top end players. Right now Ryan and ARD are the easternmost recruits.

I think Pankowski's going to break out this weekend against the dawgettes. Great to see Nurse/McKibbon/Norby get cranked up last series.

PP up to 12%. :)

Do you have a link for that post? I totally believe you, but I just didn't see anything about it.

I did not pay much attention to the 4 Nations Cup other than to see the results of the last 2 games so not sure how AP performed. Did she pick up her game playing with the Sr ladies? She is too good of a player to not produce on a regular basis.

Stat-wise, she only played in 3 of the 4 games, scored a goal vs. Finland, was a +2, and stayed out of the sin bin.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2016-2017

It's a great day for hockey! Looks like no free video, just pay to watch nchc. I'll try and hook up with the guys on the btn2go and follow the gals on twitter, though whoever is doing the twitter feed lately has been slacking. Maybe they'll do a live blog.

It's gonna be a fascinating series. I believe UMD is over-rated @3, but whether ones thinks they should be ranked 3rd or 5th, it's going to be a tough series.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2016-2017

Shots were 20-3 in the first. It says don't judge a game by the score.

Why was ARD sitting?

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2016-2017

Why was ARD sitting?

The dreaded "upper-body injury." Doesn't sound like she even made the trip up. Without watching the game, not sure how well Cece played. Apparently she had several nice saves, but 4 goals is 4 goals. With that said, they have to get more than 1 goal on 49 shots.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2016-2017

Wonder if UMD got the memo...

It's her first game silly......LOL.

I am FREAKING OUT, FREAKING OUT, about ARD's injury, FREAKING OUT. Upper body, I'm guessing concussion. The one thing that could torpedo the whole season. Rolfes redshirted after playing 10 games last year, maybe ARD can do the same. Of course MJ won't publicly acknowledge ARD is still alive or if she's even in the state or country or on earth, so we'll never know what the deal is. I'm wondering how much the sky weighs because it's gonna flatten me.

What's really concerning is that they are coming off a bye week. So did the injury happen last series, during practice this week or a lingering issue? It's a safe bet that her playing status for next week won't be known until the players come out for pre-game skate and/or the team tweets out the lines half hour prior to face-off.

Thats funny because only a couple of posts before you were suggesting Cece was a better tender. If I may be rude enough to quote you
All I can say is Cece will beat those records
you should be excited about her assault on the record book

Hope ARD recovers quickly & is back at it soon
