Wisconsin Badgers 2013-2014 Season

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2013-2014 Season

Hearing this weekend is nearing a sell out. I have my two season tickets available for Sunday, if anybody wants them. I'll be at both the men's and women's games Saturday or I can leave them at Will Call.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2013-2014 Season

In a few weeks I'm doing a men's/women's double header. If I park my car in the lot by the walk-underpass for the gal's game, walk to St St for dinner, then go into the KC for the men, will my car get some sort of ticket, will it not?

Sellouts would be awesome for the sue games, but then more than likely I can't switch seats between periods to stay on the sue end of the ice. I may have to go center ice for this series.

It's possible that if you are there before the parking facists arrive for the mens game, you could be OK with parking there. Unfortunately, if they partner up with Madison Transportation Dept, they probably will issue tickets. The only times I've done the women's/men's hockey double-header, I parked in the nearby ramps just to be safe. I didn't want the hassle of going out to the lot to find my car ticketed and/or towed.

I'm guessing that the North Dakota, UMD and Gopher (one game at LaBahn) series will probably officially sell-out. Unfortunately, similar to last year, there are a number of no-shows and there will be empty seats. Depending on how many you are brining to the game, you may be able to move around. What sucks is that there will be people turned away at the door when the arena could actually accomodate them. Not sure if the athletic department has bothered looking into this situation.

The whole turning-people-away thing really sucks. An odd reality is that they'll have every seat accounted for, where each seat is every single red rectangle between the two white stripes on the bleachers. Most people aren't squeezing that close together. Of course, some people will opt for standing room, but that's a small portion of the total number of "seats."

I fully expect that you would at least get a ticket, and more likely be towed.

This map shows the lots you're talking about (78 and 48) are 'unavailable' even to men's season ticket holders.

(I have on occasion parked on Mifflin St and walked the couple blocks for women's games; if you do so, pay attention to "opposite side parking", meaning OK to park on the even side on 'even days' and odd side on 'odd days'. Otherwise, there's the Lake St public ramp or University Square public ramp. And I do a 'double-header' maybe once a year, but I take city bus down to the Isthmus to avoid the costs and hassle you're thinking about.)

I interpreted the lot in question as the Alexander lot just south of walking path which is a cash lot for men's games. Honestly, I didn't even know 78 and 48 existed. They have to be pretty small and are probably permit only at all times.

..and I'm not sure what the 'Alexander lot' even is, or who it belongs to. Is it the University's (with no lot number like the others) or is it the private property of those medical office buildings off of Regent? Can one even get into it for, say, a Friday 2 PM women's game (not that they have many of those anymore)?

Either way, I wouldn't chance it to save the $10 or whatever Lake St would cost.

I haven't done that this year yet, but in year's past its not been a problem. I've never gotten a ticket.

These days we just go to one of the bars that run a shuttle and take that back to the Kohl after dinner and a beer or two.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2013-2014 Season

I usually part in the Alexander lot for the gal's games on the west end, then scoot down the hill to the underpass and to LB. It's not private lot, I park there once and awhile if I have some business @ St St during the week. Based on that, I doubt the lot is empty even when men's game are, there is a restaurant in the building on the east end of the lot. The big question is shall I risk it or not? $15.00 is $15.00.

Let's blast the suzies this weekend.

Badger Fans - my name is Ryan and I'm one of the members of the staff associated with BadgersConnect - the University of Wisconsin's OFFICIAL fan zone.

I see all the passion on this site, and it's awesome, and I just wanted to take a second to make sure everyone was aware of all that we have to offer at BadgersConnect (Connect.UWBadgers.com).

Before you get upset that you think I'm spamming, I'm truly not.

It's completely free and I'm not looking to try to sell you anything - I just want the Badger Superfans of the world to know that we offer them the opportunity to make play predictions, answer trivia, post photos and earn points by checking-in at the game. Well even give points for you just telling us where you're following the game from.

The more points you earn the more likely it is you'll win unbelievable rewards and fan experiences (like season tickets, autographs, merchandise, suite tickets, on-field passes, etc.)

We hand them out every week in a contest we call "Winning Wednesday" - once you sign-up you're eligible for every drawing. It's honestly really simple and it's a no-brainer if you're a true Wisconsin Athletics Fan...which you clearly are.

I'm happy to answer any questions or assist in helping you sign-up, but what better place to come than this amazing board? Look forward to discussing more. Thanks, and On, Wisconsin!!

http://www.uwbadgers.com/sports/w-hockey/spec-rel/010814aab.htmlMaybe I've missed it, but is Rigsby able to go for either of the games this weekend? She was the main reason why the Badgers were able to take 5 points in Grand Forks.

On the weekly radio show Tuesday night, Coach Johnson talks about Rigsby fielding shots in practice, and how she's moving etc. Pretty much non-committal about the ND weekend, but it sounds more likely to be Desbiens.

Johnson starts at about 22:30, specific to the injury starts at about 27:30:

I heard a segment of that on 1070 yesterday afternoon during the On Wisconsin show. First, I was glad to hear the women's team get some coverage. Second, it didn't really sound that Rigsby was going to go this weekend. Fortunately, Desbiens is on a roll right now.

Just saw on the UW site that Saturday's game is sold out. Hopefully, those who have tickets and can't go can get them to others. I'd really like to see a minimum of open seats.

That's what I love about that show. Anything on the Wisconsin Badgers composite schedule will get at least a brief mention, and student athletes deserving of recognition, even if it's in a not-so-spectator-friendly sport, get recognition. It's a great way to give fans a little round-up of what's going on across the athletic department. Basically, it's the opposite of the "Badger Sports Report."

I try and set-up work travel so I'm in the car from 2-3 to listen to "On Wisconsin". Sometimes Posick tows the company line too much when interviewing coaches whose teams are struggling, but I sill rate it an "A" as a radio show. I love the "Where are they now" segments.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2013-2014 Season

Rigsby might play this weekend, Johnson is worried about bringing her back too quickly. I'm not overly concerned, I have full confidence in ARD.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2013-2014 Season

Todays "sellout" crowd does seem bigger than some of the previous sellouts, but there still are plenty of seats in the corners. Could easily fit in another couple hundred people.

A good game to start. Tied at 1 after 1. The badgers struggled a bit on d in the second half of the period, and they have already used their timeout. The badgers goal was on a rocket off the crossbar from Jaminski, but they had a couple of other real good chances early.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2013-2014 Season

Very disappointing finish to the game from the Badgers. They really controlled the 2nd period, but couldn't get one across, and then with only about a minute left, they let ND fire off a pretty easy one from right in front of the net. The 3rd period really had no positives for the Badgers. They let in 2 goals, and they had basically no come back at all. They played very sloppy in the offensive end, and never even really threatened with a legit scoring chance.
