I'd agree that 5-1 is needs to be the minimum expectation, and I believe if they do that 3rd would be the worst they could finish, since ND/UMD/OSU all play each other down the stretch. That and a strong showing in the WCHA tourney should get them into the NCAA.

I'd say the absolute best case right now would be for the Badgers to run the table, up to the WCHA championship game, and slide up to 6th or 7th in the pairwise - and then have the 4/5 team knock off Minnesota in the WCHA semi's and beat the Badgers to win the WCHA Tournament. That seems like just about the only way that 3 WCHA teams get into the NCAA tourney, and the only way that the Badgers would avoid having to go to play the Gophers in the NCAA Quarters. A longshot certainly, although if I was going to pick one game where Minnesota might lose the rest of the year, it would be the WCHA semi's, since they'll be playing a strong 4/5 team that will have their season on the line.


Taking a roadtrip to St. Cloud on Saturday, who's with me?

I've always wanted to do a women's road trip, but with 3 kids and a wife the time factor just doesn't work out. We almost did the ncaa's when it was in Duluth, was that last year or the year before?

Frozen Four was in Duluth last year. I came up after they won in the semis and had a great time Saturday and Sunday...until the game was the over. I've made mulitple trips to Minneapolis for Badger womens hockey, but don't see myself going to the likes of St. Cloud or Mankato. North Dakota would probably be fun, but the drive is daunting.

I was at Duluth for the Frozen 4 last year, and at Mariucci for the Frozen 4 back in 06. I've been to Ridder a couple times, but this will be a first to St. Cloud. I thought about going to ND last year, but driving 600 miles to spend a weekend in Grand Forks in January just had too many downsides.

But the upsides would have been worth it! They have some trees, and the food at the Olive Garden is pretty darned good! ;)

Don't they serve beer at the Ralph? That would be a big plus. Last time I was able to have a beer and watch live women's hockey was when the Badgers were either playing at Cap Ice or the Coliseum back about 10 years ago.

Wisconsin up 3-0 on St. Cloud after 1. Looks like Sylvester, Pacholok and Kelter with the goals.

4-0 Wisconsin after 2. Sowchuk with the 4th goal. Nice to see the offense get back on track and some of the younger players tally some goals.

6-0 Wisconsin final. Decker and Burke with early 3rd period goals. Need to complete the sweep tomorrow.
 
The badgers came out as flat as I've ever seen to start a game, and it cost them as scsu scored first about 3 mins into the game. Wisconsin finally got it going, scoring practically off the face off on their first power play. They pretty well dominated the 2nd half of the period, but didn't get many good shots off, and we're tied at 1 to start the second period.

A much better 2nd period for the badgers results in 3 goals, include a beauty of a top shelf shot by decker. Wisconsin up 4 to 1 to start the 3rd with packer in the box after nearly throwing down with a husky woman.

A pretty noneventful 3rd period. Packer punched in a wrap aroundto give the badgers a 5-1 win.

Now if only I could trade in my ticket stub for some culvers

4 down, 2 to go. I'm getting excited about this weekend, I'll be at both games, it's gonna be fun. My first twin bill for college hockey.

Actually, this will likely be my first ever Triple-Header hockey weekend. Catching the men's game Friday night, and then probably both womens games on Saturday and Sunday. That's assuming I have the energy to drive back up to Madison again on Sunday Afternoon, and don't fall into the temptation of watching the debacle in Chicago on BTN instead.

Well, here we go again. Assuming there are no weather issues, I'm curious how many tickets will go unused. Optimistically, I'm going to say it will be virtually packed Saturday night with maybe a few more opens seats Sunday. Badger fans, if you have tickets and can't use them, please give/sell them to those who want to go!

That is very cool that both games are sold out. Hopefully this time the actual attendance will resemble a sellout as well. No question that it's a huge series for both teams, and a full building can only help the home team.

I don't think it is cool at all that the games are sold out. It just highlights what an incredibly bad job they did in planning for LaBahn and how little UW cares about its womens hockey program. This is just another case where you're going to have hundreds of potential fans turned away, and less opportunity to get more people interested in the sport. Last year, there was a listed attendance of 3,500 for the final regular season home game against Ohio State, and even factoring no-shows, UW knew they were going to be turning away close to 1000 potential fans by only putting in seats for 2200. If you were playing these games at Kohl, I'd bet you could see nearly 4000 tickets sold to each game.

Assuming they haven't changed how they deal with ticketing, I'd assume Saturday has a reasonably good crowd but it still will be easy to find an open seat, and Sunday will have as many, if not more, empty seats as the Minnesota game. I'm very curious as to how the Soldier Field game will impact Sunday, since I have to think that a fair number of womens season ticket holders could be making the trip to Chicago.
