Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2010-2011, The next generation.

What's with all the gloom & doom? I'm a bit more optimistic...I predict the Badgers will play very well this weekend. CC is a good team, but not as good as the Badgers. CC tends to not play as well late in the season. Badgers win 4-2 tonight and 5-2 tomorrow.

I think CC will give them more of a fight then that. I like our chances for at least a split and rematch out here in CS next week.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2010-2011, The next generation.

Bottom line;

The season is going to have to have a "Packer-esque" end of season run. PWR of 21 sucks, but it's a reality. I'm heading to the KC early with MCRJr who's in town. Going to get primed up at The Nitty Gritty.

Let's Go Red!

Update on Ryan McDonagh from northjersey.com

Perhaps the only piece of somewhat encouraging news after the game was that rookie defenseman Ryan McDonagh suffered no structural damage, according to coach John Tortorella, when he wrenched his knee in the third period. McDonagh is listed as day to day and will accompany the Rangers to Ottawa. He’ll be re-assessed after the swelling for his left knee subsides.

looks like UWbadgers.com is streaming the game???

I hope so, I don't think I can get the TVW wisconsin channel

Well there is really nothing to say, we played well. Ramage has to play with some hockey scence, but refs can't call a 5 minute when guy that got hit comes up and draws himself a penalty. Well to the road it is.

Just because the other player wasn't hurt doesn't mean that it shouldn't have been called. The bigger issue is that the refs don't call that hit consistancy, sometimes it is boarding, sometimes a CFB.

I know it was a penalty but it shouldn't have been a 5 minute. Ramage just needs to use his head.

Regardless of if it should have been a 2, 4, or 5 minute penalty, Ramage needed to use better judgement and not take ANY penalties in that game situation.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2010-2011, The next generation.

From where I was sitting, which, admittedly was a fair distance away, it looked like a flop - and not even a good one. But I haven't seen a replay, so I could be wrong. Given that there was an awful lot of grabbing and pushing behind plays the entire game, I think calling a 5 minute at that point was complete crap.

It's too bad, I thought the Badgers had a better effort tonight than the last couple weeks.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2010-2011, The next generation.

heartbreaker. that's all I can say. for 2 periods Wisconsin deserved the W.

Bennett deserved better I feel, and I've been a detractor for much of the season on him...he played great tonight.

Ramage didn't deserve 5 but it didn't matter.

in the end they didn't make enough plays and that's just it. it's funny that setting the bar at 20 wins to get in was mentioned a month ago. they've had one month to get from 19 to 20.

think about that.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2010-2011, The next generation.

Ramage deserved a 5. That's the definition of the penalty. Badger choked that one away.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2010-2011, The next generation.

I was happy with the effort last night after watching the debacle last weekend. UW had 3 or 4 chances where the puck hit someone, trickles past the open net, but no UW player could coral it.

UW changed up the forcheck where the D would cycle down and a wing would swing back.

I don't know if it was a concious effort or just the way the game went, but UW really did the shell thing too much in the 3rd period, and it bit them.

Rammer's penalty was a 5.

Zengerle had some monster shifts where he took his effort to another level along the boards.

The PP was way too perimeter driven. I don't think they had any quality chances on the pp. Just put 2 guys in front and blast it.

Bummer city......

I'm not sure that it was a clear cut 5, but it was definitely a penalty. We could go back and forth on that all day, but it's not the real issue.

A veteran defenseman cannot give the ref the opportunity to blow a call (if you see it that way) with a play like that in that situation. Ram screwed up and it's all on him (in regards to that call). Too bad the CC players don't have those little stop signs on the backs of their jerseys.

Good game. We out shot them and outplayed them for stretches, but couldn't get the clutch goal.

I give CC credit for hanging tough and finishing.

PS What the HELL was Eaves doing waiting to pull the goalie? The puck was in their zone with around 50 seconds to go and he was waiting for us to gain possession before pulling Bennett? Gotta get him out while you can and Eaves pooped himself on that one.

Steve my man, since you live in the Springs did you hear all of us yelling in the street last night after CC scored that third goal?

There isn't discression on that. He hit the kid from behind, it's an automatic 5. I didn't even think it was questionable. It's such a dangerous play the guy almost went in head first. Stupid play.

I still haven't seen a replay, so I'll take your word for it. As I said, it looked to me like Ramage barely touched him and there was serious embellishment. I've certainly been wrong before! That makes it two games in a row in which stupid penalties essentially cost the Badgers a game.

Baggot's point about fatigue is probably a good one. Funny that defense was supposedly the team's strong point at the start of the season, but now lack of defensive depth is hurting them.
