Quinn Finley intends to return for his junior year, per Todd Milewski. Also noticed Mike Hastings said the team bringing in 8 freshman next fall, so I'm guessing that means Bruno Idzan plans on enrolling for the fall. The 8th freshman could also be Defenseman John Stout, but I think Idzan is more likely and would be more beneficial for the team.

According to Todd’s article, with 8 freshman coming in they need to have 3 would be returners depart the team in some form or fashion. That’s before getting anyone in the transfer portal.
I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’m ready for long term solutions to be added to the team and the transfer portal used more as a “break in case of emergency” option. Really lean into building a culture here.

Curious to see if Gramme transfers or not. Two polar opposite seasons.
Hard to gauge Castro since he barely played. He will probably never be more than a second or third stringer without major development.

Glad to hear that Finley is planning to return but I'll be a little nervous until the transfer portal window closes. I'm hoping that Tassy and Fitzgerald come back - there is talent and maybe one (or both) break out for their final season.
Sounds like Hastings will need to dip into the transfer portal for a d-man or two - they're pretty thin on the back end.
Sounds like Hauser will get every opportunity to be the primary goalie and hopefully Gramme and/or Castro can take a step forward to provide some quality minutes if called upon.
I'm pretty excited for this incoming class as well - sounds like there are some snipers.

Anything can happen of course, but I think there's a lot of players who want to be here. There's Finley, Dexheimer, and the whole crew who played for Madison Capitols back in juniors, all of those guys seem really invested in Wisconsin even with this year's disappointing season. And Tassy and Fitzgerald seem pretty loyal to Hastings, and I don't anticipate either of them would leave and play elsewhere their senior season. Anything can happen though.
On the defensive side of things I personally would like to see them bring in someone with some size, I feel like that would be helpful especially for B10 play, and with Laatsch gone now. Otherwise I think the group could be solid depending on who, if anyone, transfers. Dexheimer, Schulz, and Palodichuk are all reliable and good when healthy. I think Phelan will be solid if he can cut down on the mistakes, Knox passed the eye test for the few games we saw him play in as well. One X factor is Hensler, I could see him possibly transferring, but if he stays he could improve a lot. Clearly very talented, just needs to make slightly better decisions and get comfortable, and considering he's basically 1.5 years younger than anyone else on the team, I could see him taking a big step forward.

We're not very big/physical on D and it leads to some of the problems we run into regaining control of the puck and clearing our own zone.

His stats were better when the team was better. Not that surprising, IMO.

DANIEL HAUSER HAS BROKEN THE WHL RECORD FOR CAREER WINS BY A GOALTENDER!!!!!! 5-1 win to make it 123! Got a piece of the net to take home with him.
Also, coincidentally Oliver Tulk hit 100 points for the season in that same game.
I concur with WiscTJK on the stats reflecting the team. It's even more intense in junior levels. His levels with Wenatchee aren't even bad, which is a great sign. If you surround him with a competent roster and a good system, he will give you a chance to win. I'm no expert in what your guys roster/coaching is like, but I'm fairly sure most college teams look/play more like the 24-25 Calgary Hitmen than 23-24 Wenatchee Wild.

Hoping that's not true but probably is. Assumed Serah Williams was already likely gone for WBB. This is completely the wrong strategy for the athletic department to take. We don't have the $$$ or stature to compete for a national title in football. Accept that - go for a good coach who develops and maybe make the playoff every once in a while, and be a power in the other sports. I worry about other sports being outright cut (ala baseball and men's & women's gymnastics). Doesn't feel like they (current powers that be in the athletic department) really want to deal with them.

What are other schools spending for hockey? I can't imagine a world where many universities are spending more than UW.

I love this concept. The current AD is miscast as an AD. He's not a big picture thinker and that is crucial to an AD's success. His strategy is spend spend spend on football and have volleyball, women's hockey and the track team programs he inherited bring home the hardware and make him look good.
