Wisconsin at Colorado College - 01/15/10

Re: Wisconsin at Colorado College - 01/15/10

Looks like maybe the pre-season polls putting CC @ 7th in the WCHA weren't too far off?

:p
 :o ;)

They have definitely played over their heads so far this season and in all honesty, I have worried about the possibility of them falling back down. They're still in good shape overall, though, if they can snap out of this funk.

To be fair, a women's ticket is like $6. So a men's game and a women's game would cost $28 total. You get to see a men's and women's game for $25 played in outdoors at one of the oldest football stadiums in the country. Plus all of the extra event's on Friday and before/during the games.

Also, Culver's is giving out vouchers with a code to use online that can be used to purchase 2 tickets for $10 each. 2 tickets that get you two games for a combined price less than a single men's ticket. You can't ask for much more than that.

The thing that bothers me is the lack of advertising. I've seen one television commercial (and a pretty crappy one at that) shown sparingly. I've heard one radio commercial every few (though I listen to the radio a lot less than I watch TV).

In about one week when they still have 20,000 tickets to sell you will see A LOT of ads....or at least one would think that!

So, Culvers is already "giving away" tickets. Well, I know one thing, I'm looking forward to the event either way...

They played the same commercial 3 times on Milwaukee's NBC station during the NHL Winter Classic, but that's all I've really seen of it.

I think the Badgers radio broadcasts have been playing commercials, but that's all I've heard/seen. Also, I'm not in the greater Madison area, so I can't really say whether or not there has been any other stuff. Would be nice if they had any of the games televised so they could spread the word some more.

Re: Wisconsin at Colorado College - 01/15/10

it would be nice if they played some ads on 720 in chicago (blackhawks flagship) or on some tv down here.

there are tons of UW grads here not to mention blackhawks fans who might consider going to the camp randall game.

I swear UW hockey gets more mentions on 720 Blackhawks radio then on the entirety of Milwaukee radio and tv stations combined.

I don't understand why they would advertise during the Badger hockey radio games. If you are listening to a Badger hockey game on the radio you probably already have your ticket for the game.

Cheap advertising... Can't imagine the ad space costs a whole hell of a lot. Just to make sure they get all of the captive audience I guess. But yeah, can't imagine anyone listening to the Badgers radio broadcasts as good as they are and not going to the game... Unless they're housebound.

I've seen a couple adds on the Big 10 Network, but I don't recall seeing any during tonights UND/Goofer game.

C'mon now, you're asking for UW Athletic dept to actually do something to further the hockey program... That just doesn't look like it's happening. Maybe BTN will show some ads during the Wisconsin BB game tomorrow.

Derek Stepan just went down, looks like he twisted his left leg... Hope it's nothing serious. Had to have some help off the ice.

Re: Wisconsin at Colorado College - 01/15/10

They really didn't think the marketing process out properly. They assumed that the tickets would sell themselves. You know what happens when you assume.......

I unfortunately didn't make it down to Madison for any football games this year, so I don't know if there was any mention of it during any of the games... Would have made sense. They promote the hell of it at the hockey games, but I mean, you gotta figure that the majority of season ticket holders already have their tickets, some of the casual fans might be swayed into going too... They do need to get some ads out on the local networks to get word out, especially with less than a month to go.

Re: Wisconsin at Colorado College - 01/15/10

I wonder how much of that 36,000 or so that have already bought tickets is students. People I've talked to are excited for it, but haven't bought their tickets.
