Ahhh, good old Ursinus College. I've been there. Potsdam kicked their *ss*s in the NCAA quarterfinals in basketball.

Actually spent one of the nights at Villanova ... in the girl's dorm.

You'll have to get a lot of drinks in me to tell the whole story...

Re: Will Brockport Have To Change Its Name?

I thought scalping was now legal in New York State?

Good article here - Excerpt:

..The only catch would be that scalpers would not be able to sell tickets within 1,500 feet of large venues or within 500 feet of small venues...

Wed, Jun 10th 2009 4:14 pm EST - By Alfred Branch Jr.

A little over a week after the state assembly overwhelmingly approved the measure, New York Gov. David Paterson late Tuesday, June 9, signed the ticket scalping extension bill that allows free market ticket resale to continue for another year.
...
The bill not only allows ticket scalping to continue without limits as to what brokers or others can charge, it also prohibits teams from revoking season tickets of fans who resell their tickets through channels other than the team; requires primary ticket sellers to disclose whether seats have obstructed views; and prohibits primary sellers from selling or conveying tickets through a secondary ticket seller that they own.

Note, it had expired from June 1, 2009-June 9, 2009.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin's law here:

March 17, 2010 |(8) Comments

Attention college hoops fans: If you have extra tickets for Friday's and Sunday's NCAA basketball tournament games at the Bradley Center, feel free to sell them for any price, as long as you're far enough from the arena.

Milwaukee city ordinances allow tickets to be re-sold above or below face value as long as the sale takes place more than 500 feet from the Bradley Center.

That means no tickets can be sold inside an area bordered by Juneau Ave. to the north, Old World 3rd St. to the east, Kilbourn Ave. to the south and James Lovell St. to the west, Milwaukee Police Officer Mark Pettke said.

However, tickets can be sold inside the perimeter as long as the sale occurs more than two hours before the day's first game or more than one hour after the day's last game, Pettke said.

Both uniformed and plainclothes officers will be working inside and outside the Bradley Center during the tournament, Pettke said. In addition to helping with crowd control, officers will be working to prevent illegal ticket sales and sales of counterfeit merchandise, he said.

People who purchase tickets on the street should take precautions to make sure they are buying legitimate tickets, such as ensuring that each ticket lists a different seat number and has a different bar code, Pettke said.

Indianapolis rules here:

...The municipal code says transient merchants in Indianapolis must have one of the $20 licenses, handled by the office of code enforcement. The code enforcement office is at 1200 Madison Ave.

Another portion of the municipal code prevents reselling certain tickets for more than $10 over the face value. That ordinance covers only NCAA championship games or the Super Bowl...

State University of New York at Sweden, or, Sweden State University.:D
I don't know - could catch on in some facet. They could stick to the Eagles for sure, but I'm definitely with the earlier posters on the potential new colors. Swedish blue and yellow gold aren't on the SUNYAC team color spectrum yet anyway.
Random needless fact I suppose, but the whole reason for the community name of Brockport was due to the Eire Canal running through town. It has had its uses in the past, but hey - bring on the Swedes.

Re: Will Brockport Have To Change Its Name?

...and then there's Tupper Lake, which decided a few years back that things weren't confusing enough and voted (apparently under the advisement of the Department of Redundancy Department) to change the name of the town (Altamont) to match the name of the village (Tupper Lake) and doom abstractors to explaining that a given piece of land could be in Tupper Lake, but not Tupper Lake, Tupper Lake. Woo.

Would that be the same Altamont down here in the capital district?
