...and then there's Tupper Lake, which decided a few years back that things weren't confusing enough and voted (apparently under the advisement of the Department of Redundancy Department) to change the name of the town (Altamont) to match the name of the village (Tupper Lake) and doom abstractors to explaining that a given piece of land could be in Tupper Lake, but not Tupper Lake, Tupper Lake.
