Who's next for a move up to D1?

They feel destined for Atlantic Hockey to me, maybe ECAC if they're lucky.

I agree, as Stonehill would add a sixth team to the eastern five in Atlantic Hockey besides giving the conference an even number at 12. One downside would be that Stonehill plays home games at Bridgewater Ice Arena with a seating capacity of only 1000. But Stonehill has a relatively good endowment so probably has the capacity to raise the funds to build a larger on-campus ice arena.

Hockey East will never let Holy Cross in (and they want in), so what makes Stonehill think Hockey East would every want them?

Not so sure about that... reports back when Notre Dame left the conference in 2016 is that the Hockey East approached Holy Cross to join, but seems to have fallen through due to an arena issue... I'm guessing that if Holy Cross ever decides to upgrade to a new facility, then they'd be a shoo in for the Hockey East.. especially with the woman's team already in the Hockey East..
