Who's going to win it all?

Re: Who's going to win it all?

How so? Did he say Trinity didn't deserve to win? Some people feel that when someone says team A outplayed team B, but lost either can't happen and or takes away from a win. Is SNHU a better team then Oswego? Trinity gave up over 70 shot attempts, or are you saying that was their plan? Was it their plan to just hang back and let Plattsburgh take it to them knowing that they will only put 1 of their 70 shot attempts in the net? Yes Trinity got a gift in the home ice, Bob even mentioned as a "cloud over their heads" all week. Excuse? No. Fact? Yes. Did Trinity get some breaks (earned or unearned) Yes. Excuse? No. Timely unforced turnovers? Yup. Excuse? No. I don't understand why it's so hard for some to understand that a team can still dominate, play better, ect ect and lose. Trinity won because of hard work IMO. Blocking 30 shots is impressive. If it's played at the Stafford like it should have been? Who knows. Maybe Plattsburgh wins 5-1, maybe they lose 10-1. Trinity has talent, I just hope that they don't expect to give up 70 shot attempts to Adrian and have the same results...you give Plattsburgh and or any team 70 shot attempts and you only get 30ish I don't like your chances most nights...
Ah the old "my team lost but we are better" vindication. Havent seen this one dusted off for awhile. I won't debate this with you Remy, been there, done that and lets just say we disagree. This kind of thinking is great for you and cards and maybe justifies in your mind your team being sent home. I see it as poor sportmanship and thats my opinion. You wonder why guys leave this board? Newbe from Trinity sees this horse crap and says I want no part of it. You ought to apologize to that sole Trinity poster and say good game. Besides can you and Bob really spin a 5-1 loss?

Who's spinning a loss? I ask again, did anyone say Trinity didn't deserve to win? Trinity scored 5 goals, Plattsburgh scored 1. We got that. There is a lot more to a game then just a score. It's obvious that SNHU should have been awarded a special bid seeing how they scored more goals then Oswego did, so they are a better team, period. There's no vindication, there no "justifying" a loss. You want to just play patty cake and look at the scoreboard and go home. I say once again, there is more to a game then just a score. Of which, just because a team "scores" more doesn't mean they can't be outplayed (nearly 3-1 on shot attempts). I realize it takes a little bit of brain power and some knowledge of the game to understand that there is more to the game of hockey then the simple scoreboard, for that I apologize. The score simply determines who wins and moves on.

As for our "new" Trinity poster....just like any other posters, if you can't and or don't take the time to understand the rules and process's of the game and get upset when someone tries to help you, suck it up or there's the door. Maybe we shouldn't allow discussion of games because it might hurt peoples feelings. A "Good game Bobby, you did an excellent job beating our hockey team because you scored more goals then our team". That would make for a very entertaining forum. Anyone who simply looks at just the score are about as smart as those fans who's team is getting beat by a few goals and shut out late in the third period and still telling the other goaltender he "****s", or the ones who's team is a 15 loss team, but still puts up the #1 sign when they beat another team....if you can't discuss a game by more then "they scored more goals", I'm sorry.

Re: Who's going to win it all?

No disrespect to what Trinity did last night, but in attempt to NOT start a word war Plattsburgh is NOT Adrian...and I will leave it at that...Trinity looked good last night but part of that had to do with the opponent as well...

(look familiar)?
Yes well that was a total dis on ur part. I did say Adrian was the team to beat, but they have not played a team like the Bantams. The proof is in the playing. Further you dis'd Platty too. If Adrian is who you say they are then we will see this weekend. If Trin-Trin play like Saturday night, they win. And i leave it at that.

Re: Who's going to win it all?

No disrespect towards Trinity intended. They have a nice team. But they were clearly outplayed by Plattsburgh last night everywhere except the scoreboard. They were the recipient of tons of fortunate bounces, timely Card turnovers, a gift home game and beaucoup puck-luck. In a 7 game set, that might have been their only win. But it doesn't matter, it is what it is. I have picked Stevens Point since the beginning, sticking with it.

What game were you watching? Typical SUNYAC bias. UR forwards were very good, but Bantams had better chances expect for 2nd period. Patty d-men were the weak link and that is where the goals came from. Expect for 2nd period, most Platty chances were outside and they were one and done most of the time.

And yes you are also dissing the Bantams.

Re: Who's going to win it all?

Anytime someone says no disrespect and then follows up "but" is completely disingenuous. You have a bad case of sour grapes. A 5-1 score does not indicate a team was completely outplayed who scored the 5. Maybe those "timely Card turnovers" were forced by the Bantams. Maybe the "fortunate bounces" were because of hard work and good coaching. Maybe.....well you get my drift.

EXXXXXactly

Re: Who's going to win it all?

I disagree. When someone says "no disrespect" or "with all due respect", you then can say whatever you want! It's in the Geneva Convention, look it up

YEs, but he is right. It is disingenuous. Better to just state your opinion and leave it at that.

Most shots is a faux stat IMHO. If you were at the game and saw how it played out, except for about 10 minutes of the 2nd period, the shots were from outside and not screened. As stated before most shots were one and done. Trin-trin's d-men were much better than Platty. Don;t deny because thwart was the main difference in the game. Bantam goalie was better clearing shots to corner all night.

Saying Bantams have a "nice team" is a total dis and you know it. Stop the BS and admit it. From a non-SUNYAC POV, you have a bias and it shows. Get over it and admit the better team won. Trin might not beat Adrian, but they stuffed the Cardinals and were the better team. Stop making excuses and deal with it.

Thank you. I am not a newbie. Just don't post that much, but been following D3 for 12 years and D1 since last 60's (BU is my team). This is best Trinity team i have ever seen. They cannot compete day in and day out with the SUNYAC teams, but every once and a while we do. Amherst and Trinity just beat two of the best Eastern teams of the last 15-20 years fair and square and instead of some acknowledgement we get the same old SUNYAC bias crap. This team is way faster than the SUNYAC teams, but smaller. Speed sometimes kills and it sure did last Saturday.

My apologies Bantam75. My post was actually poking fun at the person who posted this:

As you can see, I was saying the exact same thing about a different game -and poking fun at him now that his team was on the losing side of a lopsided score.

Nothing but respect for Trinity - good luck vs Adrian.

Right after Trinity beat Nichols, you couldn’t help but declare (again - as you did earlier in the season) that you were “not impressed” with Trinity. You said, “I'm actually more confident in playing Trinity then Nichols….Trinity goalie looked very shakey...” Well, Trinity beat your team 5-1. That is not a close game, especially when your team’s lone goal comes with 30 seconds left in the game. You should show some humility and some semblance of sportsmanship and admit they are a lot better than you thought. Instead, you have now posted two ridiculous rants where you try to justify how Plattsburgh was ACTUALLY the better team in that game, and then “educate” the rest of us…who apparently don’t understand hockey if we don’t see that things such as “attempted shots” are really more accurate indicators for who the better team was on any given night.
But please, continue….your posts are priceless right now.

Ha this only comes out when you spin a loss! You know, if it was a much closer game I could buy your rationalization, but you got thumped and your only goal was in garbage time. Thank you for playing, and for making my point.

Well, we'll see about that this weekend. Right now it is my belief that they have played 5 different teams who are better than Trinity.

But, that's why they play the games. Best of luck next weekend. Win or lose, it's an incredible way to end a great season.

Another back handed compliment. So you are saying 5 teams Adrian played who are better than Trin-trin. I see you probably mean St Norbert, Wisc S-P and possibly Oswego. Who else? ST N missed the tournament entirely so nix them. Oswego laid an egg against Platty. Wisc S-P is in the final dance so perhaps. Who else?

If you look at the power rankings closely you will see that WSP is up there in every category, but Trin-trin was #1 overall and #1 in the East. So the only team i will grant you is WSP, possibly. So much bravado and we haven't played the game yet. The only game that counts now is the next one. Bantams won the ones they had to win to get there. So did Amherst. Right now the NESCAC can crow a little and SUNYAC should show a little humility and take their loses and wait til next year. You don't see the Norwich posters crying over the fact that they were either #1 or #2 in the final rankings, had to play a play in game and play Amherst on the road. Not a peep.

We're not worthy...We're not worthy....We're not worthy... Make you feel better little Bantam?

Bantams D, better yet? Goalie was outstanding on rebound control, better yet? Would you like to go to time of possession? I believe I said Trin Trin did a great job taking advantage of their chances. "Trinity won because of hard work IMO. Blocking 30 shots is impressive." No, saying Trinity is a "nice team" is NOT a dis. A dis would be saying they didn't deserve the win, has anyone? Didn't think so. If you want to put your Trin Trin on a golden platter, you have the floor. The put more goals in the net and earned the right to advance (I think nothing on the contrary has been said here?). You know, its amazing too I didn't know that watching a game on the internet changes the game so much. Oh wait, everyone at the game also said Plattsburgh controlled the game as well. Wow. Amazing. Plattsburgh was getting so many shots because they were pushing the tempo and controlling play. The Trin Trin TEAM defense did an (here we go again) "impressive" job blocking 30+ shots. That to me is way more impressive then putting up 5 goals (1 penalty shot and 1 EN goal but congrats), your team defense was much more impressive, but maybe you don't understand that.

No worries. The SUNYAC-bias posts are just a little much at this point given they are all home now

So once again, let me get this straight...SNHU is a better team then Oswego....got it thanks...
